REMOVAL OF CHEMICAL WASTE

Walter Simmler

Four approaches to waste removal practised in the chemical industry are outlined: post-process pollution control, covering waste water- and off-gas purification, incineration and landfill; recycling by upgrading or cleaving by-products or residues; development of new manufacturing processes for existing products, necessitating less postprocess measures; development of new products for existing applications with less of an environmental load and less inconvenience to processor and consumer.
