Abstract The complexes of K 17 Ln(CuW 11 O 39 ) 2 ·nH 2 O (Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy, Ho, Yb) have been prepared by the stepwise acidification and the stepwise addition of materials. The products were charachterized by elemental analysis, ion-exchange, conductometric titration, IR, UV, X-ray power diffraction and thermal analysis. The results show that the structure of the products is similar to that of Cs 12 U(GeW 11 O 39 ) 2 . The thermal analysis indicated that the complexes with undecatungstocuprate heteropolyanion as a ligand had higher thermal stability than that of saturated Keggin Structure dodecatungstocuprate.

Research progresses in the layered double hydroxides [M(1-x)/2+ Mx3+(OH)2]x+ Axn/n− ·mH2O intercalated with metal coordinate ions or oxometalates in the last ten years are reviewed. These layered double hydroxides are mainly intercalated with polyoxometalate (POM) ions, a LiAl-LDH photochemical assembly containing TiO2 and CH3(CH2)12COO− anions, together with Zn(TPPC) (porphyrin derivate) and macrocyclic ligand-containing porphyrin derivate anions. Emphasis is put on the synthesis methods for intercalation of the anions into the interlayer regions, the characterization techniques and structures for the layered compounds and the newest research progress in the fields such as catalysis. The review also forecasts the prospects of the field.

Abstract A single crystal of heteropoly blue, NaH6PW12O40 ∗d 4H2O, has been prepared by electrochemical reduction and isolated by evaporation under nitrogen. The crystal structure of the compound was determined by X-ray crystallography and refined to R = 0.0552 based on 4047 observed reflections. The heteropoly blue anion has an α-Keggin structure as in the unreduced heteropoly anion, but the structure is distorted and the expected changes in bond lengths and angles are observed. The compound has also been characterized by IR, UV-vis, X-band, ESR and XPS techniques.
