Acquisition and Processing of Swath-Line Seismic Data: A Case Study from Northwest China

Specifically, in areas with rough topography with difficult accessibility, 3-D land seismic data acquisition can be prohibitively expensive, even impossible to achieve as in the present case. Additionally, subsurface 3-D structural complexity can cause extreme difficulties to overcome during data processing --attenuation of surface waves with highly complex 3-D moveout behavior caused by wide source-receiver azimuths associated with orthogonal recording geometry, attenuation of strong guided waves, decoupling the azimuthal effect on moveout velocities from residual statics shifts, and of course, the challenging task of building a complex velocity-depth model for accurate imaging in depth.
