The purpose of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of the Thai versions of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children (STAIC) and the Child Medical Fear Scale (CMFS) in Thai school age children. Subjects were 419 Thai students in grades 3-6 in three schools in Bangkok. Classrooms of students were randomly selected, and students within each classroom were divided into two groups to test the two instruments. Data were collected from students in the classrooms twice, 2 weeks apart. Content Validity Indices of the Thai STAIC and the CMFS were between 90-95%. Internal consistencies were > .80. Test-retest reliability coefficient for the Thai CMFS was .80, and coefficients for the STAIC were .62 for A-State scale and .68 for A-Trait scale. Both instruments seem to be promising anxiety/fear measures for Thai school age children; however, the Thai version of STAIC needs modification to enhance reliability and validity.

Background:Readiness to change plays a significant role in patient adherence to an exercise regimen; thus, accurate assessment of readiness to change is necessary to direct interventions. To date, an accurate scale for measuring readiness to exercise after cardiac surgery is not available. Objectives:The purpose of this study was to develop the Readiness to Change Exercise Questionnaire for use among Thai cardiac surgery patients and to evaluate its psychometric properties. Methods:The Readiness to Change Exercise Questionnaire was developed based on the Transtheoretical Model, a comprehensive literature review, and input from experts and cardiac surgery patients. Participants were 533 patients who had undergone cardiac surgery within the previous 3 months. The study was conducted in 7 hospitals in 4 geographical regions of Thailand. Results:Confirmatory factor analysis showed satisfactory goodness of fit for the 13-item scale. The analysis supported a 4-factor structure corresponding to 4 readiness stages: precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, and action. Cronbach’s &agr; coefficients were .68 for precontemplation, .75 for contemplation, .72 for preparation, and .75 for action. Conclusions:The scale was found to be a valid and reliable instrument for the determination of patient readiness to exercise after cardiac surgery. However, further testing of the scale is needed to confirm its concurrent and predictive validity.

This was a descriptive research aiming at investigating the quality of life of the Royal Thai Navy College of Nursing’s (RTNCN) personnel. There were 325 samples which were from the executives, nursing instructors, supporting staff and nursing students in the academic year 2014. The research tool was the World Health Organization Quality of Life assessment (WHOQOL - BRIEF - THAI) and the reliability of which was tested using the Cronbach’s Alpha with the result at 0.91. The statistics applied in this study were descriptive statistic. The results were as follows: 1) The Quality of Life in the aspects of physical health, psychological state, environment and overview of Quality of Life were mainly at moderate level (66.77, 54.77, 45.54, 75.38 and 57.85 percent respectively); and 2) Analyzing the Mean, it was found that QOL in all aspects of the personnel was at moderate level.

PURPOSE The objective of this study was to test the psychometric properties of the Parental Feeding Behaviours Questionnaire (PFBQ) to measure feeding behaviours of Indonesian parents of toddlers (young children). METHODS A total of 696 parents of toddlers were obtained by convenience sampling during September 2013 to April 2014. To validate the PFBQ, confirmatory factor analysis and the contrasted group technique were conducted. Reliability of this instrument was examined by construct reliability and test-retest reliability. RESULTS Results showed that the regression coefficients of all 56 indicators were statistically significant (P < 0.001). The contrasted group technique showed significantly different parental feeding behaviours between parents of well-nourished and malnourished toddlers (P = 0.047). The test-retest reliability of the PFBQ was acceptable (Pearson correlation = 0.644), and the construct reliability ranged from 0.88 to 0.96. CONCLUSIONS The PFBQ is a valid and reliable instrument; however, more studies are required to identify acceptable tools to measure more culturally diverse range of parental feeding behaviours.
