Terbium(III) (I) and cobalt(III) (II) complexes derived from tripodal Schiff bases tris(2-((5-chlorosalicylidene)amino)ethyl)amine (H3La) and tris(2-((4-methoxysalicylidene)amino)ethyl)amine (H3Lb), respectively, have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, and single crystal X-ray crystallographic determination (CIF files CCDC nos. 1021371 (I) and 1021372 (II)). The crystal of [Tb(La)3] (I) is monoclinic: space group P21/n, a = 12.689(1), b = 15.301(1), c = 15.099(1) Å, β = 110.484(2)°, V = 2746.2(4)Å3, Z = 4, R1 = 0.0314, wR2 = 0.0801. The crystal of [Co(Lb)3)]2 · MeCN (II) is triclinic: space group

Synthesis, crystal structure, and fluorescence property of a thiocyanato-bridged polymeric cadmium(II) complex derived from (1-pyridin-2-ylethylidene)pyridin-2-ylmethylamine

, a = 12.3031(6), b = 13.7209(7), c = 17.884(1) Å, α = 83.785(2)°, β = 88.144(2)°, γ = 87.873(1)°, V = 2998.0(3) Å3, Z = 2, R1 = 0.0669, wR2 = 0.1538. The tripodal Schiff base ligands coordinate to the metal atoms through three phenolate O and three imine N atoms. The Tb atom in complex I is in a monocapped octahedral coordination, and the Co atom in complex II is in octahedral coordination. The effects of the complexes on the antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans were studied.

TWO NEW SCHIFF BASE NI II AND CU II COMPLEXES: SYNTHESIS AND STRUCTURES

A new manganese(III) complex, [Mn(L1)(CH3OH)(dca)] 1, and a new iron(III) complex, [Fe(L2)(CH3OH)(NCS)] 2, for which dca is dicyanoamide anion, and L1 and L2 are the dianionic form of N,N′-3,4-methylphenylenebis(5-methylsalicylaldimine) and N,N′-bis(5-methylsalicylidene)-o-phenylenediamine, respectively, have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, and single-crystal X-ray crystallographic determination. The crystal of complex 1 is orthorhombic: space group Pna21, a = 14.6557(6), b = 10.8906(5), c = 15.0536(7) Å, V = 2402.7(2) Å3, Z = 4, R1 = 0.0321, wR2 = 0.0715. The crystal of complex 2 is monoclinic: space group C2/c, a = 14.6798(9), b = 11.1306(7), c = 27.831(1) Å, β = 93.782(2)°, V = 4537.6(5) Å3, Z = 8, R1 = 0.0423, wR2 = 0.1027. The bis-Schiff base ligands coordinate to the metal center through phenolate O and imine N atoms. Both the Mn and Fe atoms in the complexes are in octahedral coordination, with the equatorial donor atoms come from the Schiff base ligands, and with the axial donor atoms come from a methanol O atom and a pseudohalide N atom. The effects of the complexes on the antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans were studied.

Schiff base ligands 2-bromo-6-[(2-isopropylaminoethylimino) methyl]phenol (BP) and 2-ethoxy-6-[(2-isopropylaminoethylim ino))methyl]phenol (EP) and their copper(II) and nickel(II) complexes [Cu(BP)2(μ1,3-N3)]n·nClO4 (1) and [Ni(EP)2(dca)2] (2) (dca = dicyanamide), have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, and single-crystal X-ray crystallographic determination. The crystal of (1) is triclinic: space group P , a = 7.666(2), b = 8.319(2), c = 13.395(3) Å, α = 90.023(2), β = 99.742(2), γ = 99.856(2)°, V = 829.1(3) Å3, Z = 1. The crystal of (2) is triclinic: space group P , a = 8.987(1), b = 9.480(1), c = 10.522(2) Å, α = 68.237(2), β = 71.906(2), γ = 82.816(2)°, V = 791.3(2) Å3, Z = 1. The Schiff bases coordinate to the metal atoms through phenolate O and imine N atoms. The metal atoms in the complexes are in octahedral coordination. The effect of the complexes on the antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans were studied.

A New Cu–Zn Heteronuclear Schiff Base Complex: Synthesis, Structure, and Antimicrobial Activity

The Schiff bases 2-bromo-6-[(3-cyclohexylaminopropylimino)methyl]phenol (HCMP) and 2-bromo-6-[(3-dimethylaminopropylimino)methyl]phenol (HDMP) derived from 3-bromosalicylaldehyde with N-cyclohexylpropane-1,3-diamine and N,N-dimethylpropane-1,3-diamine, respectively, and their nickel(II) and zinc(II) complexes [Ni(CMP)2] (I) and [ZnCl2(HDMP)] (II) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, and single crystal X-ray crystallographic determination. The crystal of I is monoclinic: space group P21/c, a = 12.0304(6), b = 13.1594(6), c = 10.2445(5) Å, β = 101.019(1)°, V = 1591.9(1) Å3, Z = 2. The crystal of II is monoclinic: space group C2/c, a = 22.286(5), b = 12.210(3), c = 14.513(3) Å, β = 124.118(3)°, V = 3269.5(13) Å3, Z = 8. The Schiff base HCMP coordinates to the Ni atom through the phenolate O, imine N, and amine N atoms, while the Schiff base HDMP coordinates to the Zn atom through the phenolate O and imine N atoms. The effect of these complexes on the antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans were studied.

SYNTHESIS AND CRYSTAL STRUCTURES OF DIOXOMOLYBDENUM(VI) COMPLEXES DERIVED FROM SIMILAR BENZOHYDRAZONE DERIVATIVES WITH CATALYTIC PROPERTY

A new thiocyanato-bridged polymeric cadmium(II) complex with the Schiff base ligand (1-pyridin-2-ylethylidene)pyridin-2-ylmethylamine (L) derived from 2-acetylpyridine and 2-aminomethylpyridine has been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectrum, and single crystal X-ray crystallographic determination. The complex crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n with unit cell dimensions a = 8.904(2), b = 12.041(2), c = 15.550(3) Å, β = 92.354(2)°, V = 1665.7(5) Å3, Z = 4, R1 = 0.0523, and wR2 = 0.1274. The Schiff base ligand coordinates to the Cd atom through the three N atoms. The Cd atom of the complex is heptacoordinated by the Schiff base ligand in a tridentate fashion, one nitrate ligand in a bidentate fashion, and one N and one S atoms from two thiocyanate ligands. The overall coordination is pseudopentagonal bipyramidal geometry. The fluorescence property of the complex was investigated.

Synthesis, structure and properties of a nickel coordination polymer with 3D supramolecular framework

ABSTRACT Schiff base ligands 2-bromo-4-chloro-6-[(2-piperidin-1-ylethylimino)methyl]phenol (BCP) and 2,4-dibromo-6-[(2-morpholin-4-ylethylimino)methyl]phenol (DBP) and their nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes [Ni(BCP) 2 (CH 3 OH) 2 ]·2NO 3 ( 1 ) and [Cu(DBP) 2 ] ( 2 ), have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, and single crystal X-ray crystallographic determination. The crystal of ( 1 ) is orthorhombic: space group Pbcn , a = 23.894(1), b = 8.244(2), c = 19.900(2) A, V = 3919.9(10) A 3 , Z = 4. The crystal of ( 2 ) is monoclinic: space group P 2 1 / c , a = 7.072(2), b = 15.426(3), c = 14.214(3) A, β = 96.718(2)°, V = 1540.0(7) A 3 , Z = 2. The Schiff bases coordinate to the metal atoms through the phenolate O and imine N atoms. The Ni atom in ( 1 ) is in an octahedral coordination, and the Cu atom in ( 2 ) is in a square planar coordination.
