A tunable ultrashort soliton source is designed by cascading a thulium-doped Fiber (TDF) to the rear of a large mode area (LMA) fiber and the shift of wavelength per power is 6.4nm/mW from 2000nm to 2200nm. The usage of TDF introduces an extra soliton self-frequency shift (SSFS) about 150nm at each pump power level. By filtering the residual pump of 1550nm, it is demonstrated that the presence of residual pump pulse further propels the soliton to longer wavelength and the absorption of TDF does not play a part in SSFS. Other factors including the increase of Raman effect, birefringence in polarization maintaining fiber are relevant but not significant.
