Synthesis of glycosyl derivatives of hydroxyanthraquinones (6-10) potentially useful for kidney stone therapy is presented. These compounds were analyzed as inhibitors of calcium oxalate crystals formation as well as substances with the ability of dissolving crystalline calcium oxalate. In addition, the effect of the compounds obtained on real kidney stones was analyzed by ex vivo tests. The tests on L929 and A545 cell lines have shown that the compounds obtained were not cytotoxic.

Results of studies on phase equilibria in some metal telluride and selenide systems obtained by different authors by thermal analysis were compared. The concentration cell electromotive force method was presented, including the cell construction, measurement technique and possibilities of its use in explaining considerable divergences in phase diagrams published earlier. The method has been shown to be successfully applicable in determination of phase equilibria in the quasi-binary metal chalcogenide systems.

Abstract The authors phase and thermodynamic studies on the binary salt systems with common anion have shown that there is a quantitative relation between the phase diagram type and the ionic potentials of component cations of the system. The relation may be clearly presented using the binary uranium tetrachloride systems MCln − UCl4 as an example. When all the systems whose phase diagrams are known are listed in sequence of decreasing values of the ionic potentials ratio of both component cations, a certain regularity may be observed: the phase diagram types change suddenly at some precise values of the ratio. Considering the thermodynamic characteristics of the liquid phases of some of the systems, we can observe that the dependence of the excess partial molar Gibbs energy of a component (and molar Gibbs energy of solution as well) on the cation potentials ratio, is linear within the limits of the group of systems of any definite type.

The phase diagram for the system Tl2Te-Tl2Se has been determined on the basis of the results of studies by means of common thermal analysis. The diagram has been compared with diagrams published earlier. Some regularities have been presented for the quasi-binary chalcogenide systems with common cation.
