A new reference work on seal-amulets

Based on two decades of research, Othmar Keels introductory volume to his corpus of seal-amulets discovered in Palestine offers an encyclopedic reference work on this genre of artifact. While concerned primarily with material from Palestine, this volume represents a landmark in the investigation of scarabs and other seal-amulets that generally also applies to Egyptian evidence. Wide-ranging essays on typology, design motifs, materials, and especially the local Palestinian production of these objects mark this work as the most complete analysis to date of this class of archaeological material.
