Properties of ultraproducts

A direct proof is given of the completeness of ultraproduct spaces when the factor spaces are Banach spaces. The method of proof also shows the completeness of the ultraproduct even when the factor spaces are not complete for many (possibly all) ultrafilters. It is also shown that ultraproduct spaces are separable only when they are finite dimensional.
