Displaying research results

In this chapter we review the main methods used to display and communicate data and research results and discuss the issues involved in using them in an appropriate and effective way, without misleading or biasing understanding and interpretation. We explain how the presentation of research results is a communication process which needs to take into account the nature of the research and the results to be presented as well as the information processing characteristics and limitations of the audience. We also discuss newly emerging data display technologies including video, big data computer visualization, and non-visual display methods.
