The mining organ of the longwall heading machine KGS-320 with radial tools was the subject of the analysis. Cooperation of single knife with the mined solid rock was estimated in order to determine values of the forces and moments that might occur in the mining process and to estimate the energy consumption of the mining process. Analogous determination of forces and moments values as well as energy consumption of the mining process for the whole mining organ with regard to all the knives installed. Following the thorough analysis of the solid rock mining process with the longwall tumble heading machine mining head the PC computer program simulating such organ’s mode of action has been developed. This program presents the simulation of the mining process in the part regarding direct contact of the cutting tool (knife) with the rock mass. The result of this simulation is force and moments distribution, which are transmitted via the mining organ (head) during one full turn (360) and, as consequence, via whole longwall heading machine. Abstract Every company must ensure that the production process proceeds without interferences. Within this article, the author uses the term “interferences” in reference to unplanned stoppages caused by breakdowns. Unfortunately, usually due to machine operators’ mistakes, machines break, which causes stoppages thus generating additional costs for the company. This article shows a cause and effect analysis of a breakdown in a production process. The FMEA as well as quality management tools: the Ishikawa diagram and Pareto chart were used for the analysis. Correction measures were presented which allowed for a significant reduction in the number of stoppages caused by breakdowns.

Problem solving methods – are an indispensable part of the management and improvement of production. At the turn of decades, with the development of industry, specific techniques have been implemented and refined by the leaders in this field, such as Toyota, GE and Motorola. The foundation of problem solving is to find real root cause of the problem as soon as possible, its understanding and implementation of appropriate solutions that will ensure that the problem does not occur again. This paper provides an overview of methods and techniques to solve problems in the manufacturing plant Trelleborg Wheel Systems Sri Lanka, producing pneumatic tires for light agricultural machinery. These techniques are implemented as part of the Lean Six Sigma program. PROBLEM SOLVING TECHNIQUES AS A PART OF IMPLEMENTATION OF SIX SIGMA METHODOLOGY IN TIRE PRODUCTION. CASE STUDY

Abstract The article deals with the formation and spread of cracks from thermal fatigue in metallic forms. For a detailed examination of the problem, it is necessary to describe the thermal side of the process and the mechanism of mechanical stressing of the material. For the heating of the material is valid where the thermal diffusivity of the material is exercised by the decision method. The stress of the material by heating from the die casting metal depends mainly on the physical properties of the material when the calculated stress does not exceed the yield point. Also, with the help of dislocations write the life to the origin of the cracks in the cycles eventually the share of this lifetime on the total lifetime in dependence on the mechanical and physical properties of the material. During operation tests the occurrence of the cracks on the mold surface was initiated by the inclusion or concentration of stress in the knurling effect of fine grooves after grinding. Other cracks occurred in the undersurface layer and their direction was statistically accidental.

Steel is dominating construction materials applied in different branch of economies. How the studies concerning perspective development are passing all construction materials position of steel still long not changing. Very steel is friendly to the environment, but her waste (scrap) it is possible to process again into the functional product. The steel production is very much material and energy intensive. Over half of materials and raw materials entered into integrated manufacturing processes of steel (large stove-converter) is creating by products on the exit, waste. The article constitutes the inspection of raw material potential once possibilities using waste.

Abstract Smart specialisations, a new branch of economy/science constituting a new, prospective economical specialisation. It mainly consists in utilising the unique natural resources of a region, connecting various branches, using innovative technological solutions. To successfully increase their research and development potential, enterprises employ funds from the European Union. This article presents a way of successfully utilising EU funds to increase the research and development potential of an enterprise with the example of an automotive company. The authors argue that smart specializations and research and development are important factors of the success of agricultural enterprises as well. The article makes an attempt at analysing the factors which affect the growth of research and development capital of a company and the way in which goals can be achieved. For production companies providing highly processed products (and such companies are also from the agricultural sector) innovation is closely linked to research and development activities. This research and development activity is directed mainly for innovative products, processes, technologies.

Hard coal mining is characterised by the complexity and specificity of problems related to the use of machines. These problems, which occur at the stage of design, construction and production of machines, build up when the machines are being used. The process of most effective hard coal mining is considerably influenced by reliable mining machines. Every downtime due to a failure translates into the effectiveness of the whole mining process. For this reason the mining industry is searching for new methods and tools which would allow it to improve the production (mining) process in a hard coal mine. The article presents one of the quality management tools used in various industry branches – a Pareto chart, by means of which downtimes in the work of cutter-loaders has been analysed. This tool allowed classifying the causes of particular failures as well as showing which of them are the most significant and which should be removed first.

The article points to possibilities of using a short-front system as an alternative exploitation system, the application of which has a positive influence on the economic effects of a mining plant. A comparative analysis of the residual exploitation of a deposit by means of longwall and short-front systems has been conducted. The results of the analysis have been discussed, which indicated that the application of mining systems (short-front) can be profitable for mining plants and may lead to rational mining of deposit residual. Moreover, the use of a short-front system allowed a double increase of the analysed seam exploitation. ECONOMIC EFFECTS OF A MINING PLANT RESULTING FROM THE APPLICATION OF A SHORT-FRONT SYSTEM
