DALEC – a novel web tool for integrated day- and artificial light and energy calculation

DALEC is a novel, combined lighting and thermal simulation web tool. This tool allows building designers to evaluate their individual façade concepts in terms of thermal and visual performance and ultimately their impact on overall building energy use. Although easy to use, the software accounts for the complex thermal and light processes in buildings, by way of sophisticated and time-saving pre-calculations. Based on climatic data a calculation of heating, cooling and electric lighting loads can be obtained within a simulation time shorter than one second. The model has been validated by comparison with experimental data and other state-of-the-art software and shows deviations less than 15%. Not only energy demand is considered, but also user behaviour (e.g. glare protection), as well as visual and thermal comfort. This innovative, holistic approach facilitates and accelerates the design of sustainable and energy-efficient building for new, as well as for refurbished buildings.

Energieeffizientes Bauen in Europa ‐ Erkenntnisse aus dem CEPHEUS‐Projekt

Im hier vorgestellten EU-Demonstrationsprojekt wurden an 14 europaischen Standorten Passivhauser gebaut und wissenschaftlich begleitet. Passivhauser zeichnen sich durch sehr guten Warmeschutz und hocheffiziente Luftungswarmeruckgewinnung aus. Die maximale Heizlast ist mit 10 W/m� so gering, das eine Beheizung allein durch Erwarmung des Ausenluftmassenstromes der Luftungsanlagen ausreicht. Die Messungen in 113 Wohneinheiten ergaben standardisierte Heizwarmeverbrauchswerte von durchschnittlich 16 kWh/(m�a), diese liegen um mehr als 80 % unter dem Bedarf entwurfsgleicher Neubauten nach den jeweiligen Bauvorschriften. Die Bewohner ausern sich sehr positiv zur Behaglichkeit. Das beobachtete Nutzerverhalten beeintrachtigt die Zielerfullung nicht, insbesondere konnte kein bedeutender Einflus durch Fensterluftung festgestellt werden. Die absolute Hohe der Streuung der individuellen Verbrauche nimmt mit besserem baulichen Standard ab; sie kann vor allem durch unterschiedliche Komfortanspruche erklart werden. Die Verbrauchsunterschiede kompensieren sich im Mittel uber eine ausreichend grose Stichprobe. Die Validitat der warmetechnischen Gebaudesimulation und der numerischen Stromungsberechnung konnte durch Detailmessungen uberpruft werden.
