Das elektrodenverbindungsmaterial, ein zentrales bauelement in Hochtemperatur-Brennstoffzellen. Teil I: Auswahl von materialien — ein Überblick

Werner Baukal; Wolfgang Kuhn

Abstract In the construction of high temperature fuel cell batteries, the electrode interconnection material (ICM) plays a central role. Part I of this paper presents a short review of the factors affecting the choice of this material. The ICM has to form a gas tight and mechanically stable connection between the structural elements, made of a solid electrolyte ceramic; and an electrical connection between the electrodes of adjacent cells. As a consequence of the requirements imposed on the material properties, only a few substances can be considered.

Investigation into the Immobilization of the Sodium Electrode in the Sodium‐Sulfur Battery

Reinhard Knödler; Werner Baukal; Wolfgang Kuhn

The negative electrode in the sodium--sulfur battery consists of liquid sodium at a temperature of 300/sup 0/ to 400/sup 0/C. Investigations were carried out in order to study whether liquid sodium can be immobilized without influencing the electrical performance of the electrode. It was found that immobilization of the Na can be achieved without major influence on the performance of the Na electrode and, hence, the battery. (RWR) 1 fig.
