Chemoenzymatic galactosialylation with integrated cofactor regeneration

As a precursor for the chemical synthesis of sialylated oligosaccharides, the trisaccharide glycoside Neu5Ac α(2-8)Galβ(1-4)GlcNAcβ(1-O)-pent-4-ene was synthesized starting from GlcNAcβ(1-O)-pent-4-ene, UDP-glucose andN-acetylneuraminic acid in a one pot reaction employing galactosyltransferase and α(2-6)sialyl-transferase in a complete cofactor regeneration system.
