A comparative study on reliability-index and target-performance-based probabilistic structural design optimization

Abstract Probabilistic structural design optimization enables designers and engineers to quantitatively take into account the uncertainties observed in the structural and environmental properties. In this paper, two approaches to determine the satisfaction of probabilistic constraints are discussed. One is the conventional reliability-index-based approach and the other is a more recently proposed target-performance-based approach. An algorithm, which detects and eliminates the excessive zigzagging iterations during the searches for the most probable failure point and the minimum performance target point, was incorporated. The number of iterations required by the two approaches was investigated in three examples: a cantilever beam, a three-bar truss and a ten-bar truss structure. Based on the results, the target-performance-based approach was found to be superior to the reliability-index-based one in view of both computational efficiency and numerical stability.

Overlap-Avoidance Algorithm for Automation of Drawing Generation

** Abstract This paper deals with the automation techniques of ship assembly drawing generation, which help the designer to reduce the man-hour for completing the drawings, and improve the quality of the drawing for the given time. The automation techniques are necessary for the reasons of economical efficiency and improve communication between the designers and shop-makers. The overlap-avoidance algorithm of this paper maximizes the readability of the drawings using the optimization techniques a nd the heuristic rules, especially for the ship assembly field.

An Optimization of Process Planning around Quays based on the Yard Customized GIS and the Simulator

선박 생산을 위한 일정계획은 일반적으로 자체 계층관계와 공 정자체의 흐름으로 각각 정의된다. 계층관계는 대일정(장기조업 계획), 중일정, 소일정 등을 지칭하며, 공정자체의 흐름은 도크 (dock)를 기준삼아 선행공정, 탑재공정, 그리고 안벽공정으로 구 분되기도 하고 때론 단순히 선행공정과 후행공정(탑재+안벽)으로 구분되기도 한다 (Ruy, et al., 2012). 대일정 계획에서는 해당 야드 기준으로, 동시에 수주된 혹은 기획하는 다수의 모든 선박을 대상으로 각 호선의 탑재 도크지정 과 Fig. 1과 같이 키 이벤트(key event)를 포함하는 선표계획을 확정한다. 본 연구에서 사용된 안벽 중일정 계획은 대일정 계획 에서 확정된 일정기준으로 생산달력 및 각종자원(resource, 설 비, 자재, 인력)의 제한조건을 만족시키는 월 단위 혹은 분기단위 의 일정계획을 안벽중심의 의장작업에 집중 . 계획. 확정하는 단 계이다. 이후 K/L(Keel Laying)과 L/C(Launching) 일정 사이에 탑재 일정계획을 먼저 수립하고 S/C(Steel Cutting)~K/L 사이의 선행공정은 Backward 방식으로 L/C~D/L(delivery)까지의 공정 을 Forward 방식으로 결정한다 (Kim, 2012). 최근 조선소의 관심 선종은 고부가가치 선박이 대부분을 차지 하고 있고, 생산 측면에서 해당 선박들의 특징 중 하나는 안벽공 정의 생산 공기(工期)가 대폭적으로 증가 된다는 점이다. 따라서 안벽공정의 중요성이 확대되어 있지만, 이에 관한 연구는 극히 pISSN:1225-1143, Vol. 52, No. 2, pp. 97-103, April 2015

Effects of Mount Eccentricity and External Force Eccentricity on the Vibration Characteristics of Naval Shipboard Equipments Supported by Elastic Mounts

A rigid body supported by 4 linear springs has been analyzed, to investigate the effects of eccentricities on the vibration responses for naval shipboard equipments supported by elastic mounts. Considering mount eccentricity (the location of the center of spring reaction forces relative to the mass center) and excitation force eccentricity (the location of the center of the excitation force relative to the mass center), the vibration phenomena have been formulated and discussed. Also, the effects of the eccentricities have been evaluated and discussed for the elastically mounted naval shipboard equipment. Results show that the mount eccentricity has little effects on the structure-borne noise above the natural frequency of the system, however the excitation force eccentricity has significant effects all over the frequency range.

A Study on a Neutralization Method of Drawing for Augmenting Data in Heterogeneous CAD Drawings

3D CAD 프로그램의 발전과 3D 모델이 가지고 있는 강점으로 인해 자동차와 항공 산업을 시작으로 많은 제조업 분야에서 3D CAD를 활용한 설계가 정착하고 있다. 조선해양 분야에서도 3D CAD에 대한 필요성이 지속적으로 증가하여 국내 여러 조선소에 서 AVEVA사의 AVEVA Marine, PDMS와 인터그래프사의 Smart 3D와 같은 3D CAD를 활용하고 있다 (Son, et al., 2016). 3D CAD를 활용한 3D 모델은 2D 도면에 비해 설계 단계에서 형상과 관련한 더 많은 정보를 담을 수 있고 생산 단계에서는 실제 제품 의 형상을 직관적으로 판단하는 데 큰 도움이 된다. 하지만 여전 히 생산 현장에서는 3D 모델과 2D 모델이 공존하고 있고, 2D 도 면의 중요성 또한 상당하다 (Kim, et al., 2016). Hwang, et al. (2016)은 이러한 2D 도면의 중요성에 입각하여 도면에 새로운 가치를 부여하는 증강 도면을 제안하였다. 도면에 일정 정보를 추가함으로써 도면의 활용도를 배가시켰다. 본 논문은 이러한 증 강 도면을 확대 적용하는 과정에서 발생하는 데이터 호환의 문제 를 해결하기 위한 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 2D 도면의 경우 AutoCAD의 출력 형식인 DWG와 DXF 파일을 가장 범용적으로 사용하고 있다. 특히 DXF파일은 Drawing Exchange Format의 약자로 설계 도면을 교환하기 위한 파일 형 식이다. 초기에 DXF파일은 AutoCAD의 출력 형식이었지만 AutoCAD의 사용자가 늘어남에 따라 국가별로 표준 또는 표준에 준하는 파일 형식으로 활용하고 있다. 따라서 3D CAD를 포함한 대부분의 CAD에서 DXF의 출력을 지원하고 있다. 하지만 CAD별 특성의 차이로 완벽한 파일 호환이 어려운 경우도 있고 Smart 3D의 경우는 자체 2D 도면 편집 프로그램인 Smart Sketch에서 pISSN:1225-1143, Vol. 54, No. 4, pp. 344-351, August 2017

Comparison of Optimal Path Algorithms and Implementation of Block Transporter Planning System

In the process of ship building, it is known that the maintenance of working period and saving cost are one of the important part during the logistics of blocks transportation. Precise operational planning inside the shipyard plays a big role for a smooth transportation of blocks. But many problems arise in the process of block transportation such as the inevitable road damage during the transportation of the blocks, unpredictable stockyard utilization of the road associated with a particular lot number, addition of unplanned blocks. Therefore, operational plan needs to be re-established frequently in real time for an efficient block management. In order to find the shortest path between lot numbers, there are several representative methods such as Floyd algorithm that has the characteristics of many-to-many mapping, Dijkstra algorithm that has the characteristic of one-to-many mapping, and the A* algorithm which has the one-to-one mapping, but many authors have published without the mutual comparisons of these algorithms. In this study, some appropriate comparison have been reviewed about the advantages and disadvantages of these algorithms in terms of precision and cost analysis of calculating the paths and planning system to operate the transporters. The flexible operating plan is proposed to handle a situation such as damaged path, changing process during block transportation. In addition, an operational algorithm of a vacant transporter is proposed to cover the shortest path in a minimum time considering the situation of transporter rotation for practical use.

A Study on the Structural Performance and the Design of Propeller Root Fillet Surfaces having nT-T/n section

두 면을 부드럽게 잇는 연결 표면(smooth transition connecting surface)은 많은 공학 제품에서 발생하며 그 연결 형 태와 분야에 따라 각각 챔퍼(chamfer), 블랜딩(blending), 혹은 필렛(fillet) 등으로 다양하게 불린다. 프로펠러의 날개(blade)와 허브(hub 혹은 boss, flange, disk)를 연결하는 부분에도 연결 부 위가 필요한데 이를 조선 분야에서는 필렛으로 호칭한다 (Carlton, 1994). 비록 프로펠러의 필렛 설계는 일체형 프로펠러의 생산 때문에 어쩔 수 없이 발생되는 부산 부위(by-product)로 여겨지기도 했 지만, 최근 구조 역학적 관점에서 해당 부위에 발생하는 응력 집 중을 경감(stress relief)시키기 위해 필렛 형상 단면을 규정하는 최소 반경(single radius type)을 허브와 날개가 만들어내는 단면 의 최대 두께와 관련된 수치로 규정하거나 타원형(elliptic section type) 혹은 복합 반경(compound radius section type)등 을 권장하는 규정이 각종 선급 (Lloyds Register, 2007; Det Norske Veritas, 2015) 등에 등장한다. 한편, 유체역학적으로도 급속한 날개 정밀도의 개선에 따라 성능 관점에서 관심이 필렛 쪽으로 옮겨가고 있는데, Kennedy, et al. (1997)의 연구에서는 다양한 프로펠러 필렛 종류별로 캐비 테이션(cavitation) 성능을 평가하였다. 그 결과, 대부분 날개앞날 (blade leading edge) 부근의 날개코드(chord)의 20% 정도의 구 간에서 캐비테이션 최초 발생(cavity inception)이 진행되고 앞으 로 설명될 3T-T/3 단면이 그 외 제안된 다른 모든 단면들보다 우수함을 제시하고 있다. 다만 간편한 실험을 위해서 평면 허브 (planar hub)와 날개형 허브단면(NACA hub section)만을 대상으 로 상용 프로그램인 Surfcam을 사용하여 NURBS(Non-uniform Rational B-spline Surface)를 생성한 것이 아쉽다. 본 연구의 시작은 Kennedy가 CIS 측면에서 우수하다고 제안한 표준 3T-T/3 단면 (Kim, et al., 2007)의 필렛 설계가 응력집중인 자(stress concentration factor)측면에서 얼마나 우수하며, 실제 pISSN:1225-1143, Vol. 52, No. 5, pp. 372-379, October 2015

A Study on the Generation of Block Projections for the Assembly Shops

To raise the industrial competitiveness in the field of ship-building, it is crucially important that the yard should use production facilities and working space effectively. Among the related works, the management of tremendous blocks’ number, the limited area of assembly shops and inefficient personnel and facility management still need to be improved in terms of being exposed to a lot of problems. To settle down these conundrums, the various strategies of block arrangement on the assembly floors have been recently presented and in the results, have increasingly began to be utilized in practice. However, it is a wonder that the sampled or approximated block shapes which usually are standardized projections or the geometrically convex contour only have been prevailed until now. In this study, all parts including the panel, stiffeners, outer shells, and all kinds of outfitting equipment are first extracted using the Volume Primitive plug-in module from the ship customized CAD system and then, the presented system constructs a simpler and more compact ship data structure and finally generates the novel projected contours for the block arrangement system using the adaptive concave hull algorithm.
