(E)-2-[(2-Hydroxy­ethyl)iminiometh­yl]-6-methoxy­phenolate

The title Schiff base compound, C10H13NO3, obtained by the reaction of 2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde and 2-aminoethanol in methanol solution, crystallizes in a zwitterionic form, in which the molecule adopts a trans configuration about the central C=N bond. An intramolecular N—H⋯O hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal structure, molecules are linked into chains by intermolecular O—H⋯O hydrogen bonding.

Synthesis, Characterization, and in vitro Cytotoxicity of Organotin Derivatives of 4-Biphenylcarboxylic Acid

The di- and tri-organotin derivatives of 4-biphenylcarboxylic acid, {[(CH3CH2CH2CH2)2Sn(OCOC6H4C6H5)]2O}2 (1) and R3SnOCOC6H4C6H5 (R = C6H5, 2; c-C6H11, 3; C6H5C(CH3)2CH2, 4), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H, and 13C NMR spectroscopies. The crystal structures of 1 and 2 have been determined. Compound 1 is a centrosymmetric dimmer with two distinct types of carboxylate moieties and tin atoms with distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometries and 2 possesses a distorted tetrahedral structure. The in vitro cytotoxicity of 4 against three human tumor cell lines was found to be higher than that for cis-platin used clinically.

Tricyclo­hex­yl(3,5-dibromo-2-hy­droxy­benzoato-κO)tin(IV)

In the title compound, [Sn(C6H11)3(C7H3Br2O3)], the Sn atom is four-coordinate and possesses a distorted Sn(C3O) tetrahedral geometry, with Sn—C bond lengths in the range 2.132 (6)–2.144 (6) Å and with Sn—O = 2.086 (4) Å. The uncoordinated carboxylate O atom forms a weak contact with the Sn atom, with an Sn⋯O separation of 2.962 (2) Å.

The Sn atom in the title compound, [SnBr(C6H5)2(C3H6NS2)], adopts a distorted SnBrC2S2 trigonal–bipyramidal environment.
