Hydrothermal reactions of CuCN, K3[Fe(CN)6] with 2,2′-bipyridine, 1,10-phenanthroline or 2,6-bis(1,2,4-triazolyl)pyridine (btp) afford three coordination polymers, [Cu7(CN)7(bipy)2] n (1), [Cu2(CN)2(phen)] n (2) and [Cu3(CN)3(btp)] n (3). Complex 1 displays 1D polymeric ribbons which are assembled through Cu ··· Cu and π–π stacking interactions into a 3D framework. Complex 2 shows a 1D zigzag chain structure in which phen is a side ligand. In 3, the copper cyanide 2D polymeric networks are connected by tridentate btp to form a 3D metal-organic framework. These coordination polymers exhibit strong fluorescent emissions in the solid state.

Hydroxadthermal reaction of Zn(NO3)2·6H2O with pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylic acid, 4,4′-bipyridine and pyridine in a 1:1:1:2 molar ratio affords the title complex, (C10H10N2)[Zn(C7H3NO4)2(H2O)2], in which both ions are centrosymmetric. The ZnII atom is octahedrally coordinxadated by two pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylxadate chelating ligands and two water molxadecules in a distorted octaxadhedral geometry. 4,4′-Bipyridinium, acting as counter-ion, has hydrogen-bonding interxadactions with pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylxadate, forming a three-dimensional structure.

The title compound, C29H27Cl2N5O2, contains a central pyridine ring and two functionalized pyrazoline rings. The pyridine ring and the two attached pyrazoline rings are nearly coplanar, whereas the terminal chlorophenyl rings are nearly perpendicular to the attached pyrazoline rings [dihedral angles = 86.78u2005(1) and 77.70u2005(1)°]. Molecules are linked by weak intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bonding.

In the title compound, C29H27Cl2N5O2·C4H8O, the polycyclic system is composed of three parts: one central pyridine ring substituted by two functionalized pyrazoline rings. The dihedral angles between the central pyridine plane and pyrazoline planes are 5.11u2005(1) and 13.99u2005(1)°, whereas the dihedral angles between each chlorophenyl plane and the attached pyrazoline planes are 88.65u2005(1) and 83.87u2005(1)°. Molecules are linked by intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network.

The solution reaction of 4-amino-3,5-bisxad(4-pyridxadyl)-1,2,4-triazole (bpt), benzene-1,2,4,5-tetraxadcarboxylic acid (H4betc) and Co(NO3)2·6H2O led to the formation of the title cocrystal compound Hbpt·H3betc or C12H11N6+·C10H5O8−, in which strong hydrogen-bonding interxadactions assemble the ions into a three-dimensional supraxadmolecular framework.
