This paper is concerned with reliable control problems for the switched uncertain systems with time varying delay. A method for designing robust reliable controller is presented by means of the multiple Lyapunov functions technique so that the energy-like functional does not have to decrease along the switching instants. The proposed controller is reliable in that it can guarantee the closed loop asymptotic stablility of switched delay systems in the case of the possible presence of failures of partial actuators. Delay independent results of the reliable controller design are presented in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the applicability of the proposed results.

The problem of state observer design is considered for discrete time delay switched systems with Lipschitz nonlinearity and random switching law. At first, based on multiple Lyapunov functions techniques, a sufficient condition for the convergence of switched error systems is presented. Furthermore, by matrix transformation techniques, observer gains can be obtained by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, the simulation results show that the methods proposed in this paper is effective.

This paper investigates robust stabilization of discrete switched systems with time delay. Based on multiple Lyapunov functions technique, we develop state feedback controllers to stabilize the switched systems. The sufficient conditions for the existence of controller are presented using a set of matrix inequalities, which can be solved by a technique called itinerant linear matrix inequality algorithm (ILMI), and the controller gains are also obtained simultaneously. Finally, a numerical example is provided to demonstrate the application of the proposed method.

This paper deals with the temperature tracking control problem of continuous stirred tank reactors (CSTRs) widely used in chemical engineering. Design of robust tracking controller for a class of CSTRs plant with uncertainties is presented using input-output feedback linearization techniques. The control scheme has been applied to a first-order irreversible exothermic reaction process carried out in a CSTR, and simulation results show that it is effective.
