This paper reviewed the main stream of commercial software for electric vehicle simulation and briefly discussed the advantage of physical modeling tool. A dynamic simulation model of electric vehicle (EV) was developed using Matlab/Simulink and SimPowerSystem/SimDriveline toolbox. The EV model has a configurable structure that is suitable to simulation with multiple fidelity levels. This advantage will combine simulation models associated with deployment and test for different controllers to a single platform. It has multiple running rates and different solvers for subsystems in order to speed up simulation. The electrical system model is capable to simulate power electronics behavior both on average and switching level. An automated mechanical transmission (AMT) model and its controller were developed for heavy duty application, such as a city bus. It can simulate drive train discontinuous behavior (e.g. clutch engage/disengage) and longitudinal vibration.

The paper investigates the possible practical virtual sensing solutions for electric drive trains. Two types of solutions: virtual sensors for machine sensorless control and physical sensor on-board diagnostics are particularly addressed, which provide the advantages of system cost reduction and reliability enhancement. Various virtual sensor configurations with advanced control and signal processing techniques are studied and their performance are compared based on the state of the art survey and preliminary simulation. The opportunities and challenges for the application of these virtual sensor configurations in electrified transportation system are also discussed.

In this paper, a novel six-step strategy for IPM machines operating in high speed region was proposed and validated via simulations. The advantage of this strategy is that the torque capability of the IPM machine in high speed region can be enhanced by 30% compared with the traditional field weakening technique. The technique has been validated using software-in-the-loop simulations.

In this article, we propose a new online efficiency optimization method for interior permanent magnet (IPM) synchronous machine drive. In this new method, we apply a non-model-based optimization method - extremum seeking control method - to determine the optimal values of control variables such that system efficiency is optimized. Our method minimizes the power loss of both IPM motor and inverter. This method has outstanding advantages that it has very fast convergence rate and it is not sensitive to motor and inverter model parameters. These instructions give you basic guidelines for preparing camera-ready papers for conference proceedings.
