Monomers based on 2,1,3-benzothiadiazole bearing solubilizing side chains have been synthesized in high yields over four steps from readily available starting materials. A multistep synthesis of the electron-poor 5,6-bis (heptyloxy) benzo [[1,2,thiadiazole are presented. The new deficient acceptor has good solubility in organic solvents to permit an appropriate coating process.

A synthetic approach to synthesize 4,8-Dibromobenzo-[1,2-c;4,5-c’] bis[1,2,5]thiadiazole from a common precursor 2,1,3-Benzothiadiazole is reported. This unit can then be used in the synthesis of low bandgap materials via palladium-catalyzed coupling reactions.

A new electron-rich unit, 2,7-di(5-bromothiophen-2-yl)-10-hexadecyl- phenoxa-zine, has been prepared in high yield over four steps. The compound with good solubility, electronic and optical properties may be a candidate for D-A type organic polymers.

organic light-emmitting material, synthesis, π-conjugated polymers Abstract. A new synthetic approach to synthesize 2,3-dimethyl -2,3-dihydrofuro (3,4-b)(1,4) dioxine-5,7 -dicarboxylic acid from a common precursor diglycolic acid was reported. Starting from the commercial material diethylene glycol, diethyl oxalate and 2,3-dibromobutane, the compound was synthesized through oxidation reaction, acylation, hydrolysis and elimination reaction with moderate yield via a five-step reaction. The procedure was described herein with several advantages, including high product yields and easy purification.

Novel rigid dendrimer containing cross-conjugated units are synthesized from the coupling of 2-thiophene-based dendron with 5,8-dibromo-2,3-dithienylquinoxaline. The new monomer 2,3,5,8-tetrathienylquinoxaline has been successfully synthesized with moderate yield over five steps. The structure of the monomer was determined by H-NMR and C-NMR technologies. And the optical characterization of the monomer was also determined by the UV-vis and fluorescence spectrometer. The monomer has a high absorption peak at 206 nm and high emission peak at 430 nm. The monomer was freely soluble in variety of organic solvent, such as chloroform and acetonitrile.

A donor/acceptor/donor-type benzoselenadiazole-incorporated monomer was synthesized. The procedure described herein offer several advantages, including high product yields, easy purification and large scale production. Optical properties of the resulting compounds were examined by means of UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopies. The fluorescence spectra exhibit that the emission maxima of material at 419 nm belongs to blue light region.

A donor-acceptor organic molecule based on fluorene unit as an electron donor and aldehyde group as an electron acceptor has been demonstrated in high yields over four steps. This approach offers a much milder and more efficient route to synthesize the target compound via the Vilsmeier-Haack reaction. Optical spectra show that the electron-accepting groups induce an intermolecular charge transfer, resulting in a shift of the absorbance maximum toward longer wavelength. Such D-A type intermediate compounds as organic molecules display a significantly improved property profile in photoelectrical materials for applications in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), organic photovoltaics (OPVs), and organic field-effect transistors (OFETs).
