Uncertainty analysis of geomagnetically induced currents based on polynomial chaos technique

The knowledge of GIC level is important to prevent power system from the damage derived by GIC. Geoelectric field and GIC would be influenced by geomagnetic disturbance, earth conductivity, and power network structure. For these uncertain factors, polynomial chaos(PC) technique can be used to analyze their effects on GIC. Taking earth conductivity as random variable, the geoelectric fields of four type earth structures are compared. And then GICs of Xinjiang 750kV network are estimated. The distribution of £-field and GIC are achieved which provides useful reference for system operators.

Bayesian assessment method of device-level electromagnetic pulse effect based on Markov Chain Monte Carlo

To assess the susceptibility of device under electromagnetic pulse (EMP) environment, simulation test is believed as an effective method. But during simulation tests, few data can be obtained to assess effect. This paper presents an effect threshold model of a communication device based on Bayesian method. The model parameters are optimized by Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithm.

Comparison of two field-distortion gas switches for the compact Marx generator

To get the better choice for achieving higher stability and reproducibility of the output voltage pulse of the generator, two pancake switches commonly used in the low energy, high peak power Marx generator have been compared. The comparison is done in several aspects including the structure, the electric field distribution, and the breakdown characteristics. Some useful conclusions are drawn. And there is a big difference between the structural capacitances of the two gas switches as a result of the different configuration of their electrodes. So a circuit simulation of the switch used in a simple, basic, two-stage Marx circuit has been done on both switches respectively.

The transient response of discontinuous MTL based on BLT equation

This paper applies the BLT equation into the calculation of transient response of the transmission line. The MTL we considered is a serial transmission line. Especially we did some analysis of transient response of MTL with discontinuous characteristic impedance.
