Evaluation of climate suitability in Qinling mountains based on GIS

Qi Zengxiang; Xiong Xingyao; Xu Weihua; Gan Dexin

The spatial and temporal distribution of temperature humidity index (THI) and wind chill index (K) as well as monthly climate suitability were analyzed and the climate suitability period were evaluated based on geographic information system technology and climate suitability analysis models such as THI and K. Results showed: The monthly THI of Qinling increased gradually from central to north and south and from west to east; the monthly K trend of Qinling was consistent with THI; there was significant differences in climate suitability period of Qinling. In general, the annual suitable climate period became shorter gradually from south and north to central and from east to west; the longest climate suitability period is seven months, covering an area of 11 242.31 km2 or 19.50% of the total area; annual unsuitable climate area was located in Taibaishan hilly regions, which occupied 86 km2, less than 0.2% of the region’s total area and the climate suitability period decreased with the increasing altitude. It was suggested tourism should be arranged between April and October and landscape planning and construction should be carried out at the tourism scenic spots below the elevation of 2 395 m.

Effect of water stress on Citrus photosynthesis characteristic.

Xie ShenXi; Liu Qiang; Xiong Xingyao; Zhang QiuMing; C. J. Lovatt

Effect of water stress on Citrus photosynthesis characteristic was studied by using Yamasitaka,Newhall orange,Shatian pomelo as materials. The results showed:chlorophyll content of Citrus is significantly decreased by water stress, there are positive relationship between relative water content of soil and the volume of chlorophyll-a/chlorophyll-b.There are positive relationship between relative water content of soil and net photosynthetic rate(Pn) and transpiration rate, when there is a negative relationship with stoma resistance.Under well water condition, the diurnal variation of net photosynthetic rate of Shatian pomelo,Yamasitaka, and Newhall orange present bimodal curve, but the value and appeared time of peak are different among three varieties.Under water stress, the diurnal variation of Pn of Shatian pomelo show one peak while Yamasitaka,Newhall orange present two peaks. The diurnal variation of Pn of Yamasitaka present bimodal curve, under well water,60%PC and 40%PC treatments. However under 20%PC treatment,Yamasitaka show single curve.

Under the temperature of 30, 35, 40, 45 ℃, the anaerobic fermentation experiment was done in the self-made small methane fermentation installment by taking the sweet potato lees as raw material and inoculating 30%(V/V) activated sludge. The effect of temperature on anaerbic biogas fermentation by sweet potato lees was studied by measuring the gas production rate and COD values. It was indicated that the gas production rate was 70.94 mL/gTS(30 ℃), 24.42 mL/g TS(35 ℃), 49.70 mL/g TS(40 ℃)and 74.19 mL/g TS(45 ℃) and the COD reduction rate was 32.62%, 18.53%, 29.38%, 34.83% respectively. The gas production rate and COD reduction rate of the 30, 45 ℃ were obviously higher than the others. The pH values of 45 ℃ were on good condition, while the pH values of 35 ℃ had acidified phenomenon in the later period.

22 Loropetalum chinense var. rubrum were subjected to fluorescent AFLP(amplified fragment length polymorphism) analysis and its classification of variation types and kinship were investigated. Eight primer combinations selected from 64 primer combinations produced a total of 1 226 strips, of which 1 085 were polymorphic with a polymorphism percentage of 88.5%. The polymorphism percentage of Dongyanzihong, Dayuanyeshuanmianhong are 100%, their homology were the lowest. An UPGMA dendrogram based on the AFLP alleles showed that genetic similarity coefficients among Loropetalum chinense species was between 0.744 8 and 0.920 7. All the materials were divided into 6 groups with the threshold of 0.817 1 of similarity coefficient. At the same time, the first group was divided into 4 subgroups with the threshold of 0.848 4 of similarity coefficient. The AFLP result showed that Dongyanhong including 5 types, only Dongyanmeihong, Dongyanlianghong, Dongyanjuanbanmei was grouped together as the morphologic markers classified, the genetic differences of Dongyanzihong and Dongyanjuanbanhong could be appraised by the molecular marker from the other 3 types. The AFLP result also showed that Dayuanyeshuanmianhong was not grouped together with Dayemeihong, Dayehong, Dayejuanbanhong and Dayehong as the morphologic markers classified. Thus, tyey have morphological similarity but presented great differences in the genetic distance. Compared with morphologic markers, the classification system based on AFLP markers could reflect relationship Loropetalum chinense var. rubrum cultivars more efficiently.
