Li Kaiyu; Wang Wendong; Zheng Kaiwen; Liu Wen-bo; Xu Guili

Efficient algorithms for the continuous representation of a discrete signal in terms of B-splines and for interpolative signal reconstruction have been proposed in this paper. It analyzes the relationship between the degree of the spline and the quality of the interpolation. By taking the z-transforms of the sampled B-spline functions, a fast interpolation algorithm based on digital filters of IIR and FIR is proposed, which is quite suitable for hardware realization with its ideal processing result and high-speed computing. Through the example of image enlargement, the application of cubic B-spline based interpolation in image processing is investigated. It designs a fast and high-quality image enlargement and display system based on FPGA. It is proved in the experiment to be qualified for the real-time image processing.

GPU based small target detection using IR images

Muhammad Ahmad Javed; Xu Guili; Yao Jie; Ning Li; Syed Yaqub Shah

In this paper we present a new method for detecting moving object in infrared image sequences which contain nuisance objects and noise. The moving target detection approach is based on wavelet transform with GPU implementation. According to the features of the modulus maxima images after wavelet transform, the background clutter and noise are eliminated. The effectiveness of this new method is demonstrated by applying the resulting algorithm to infrared images containing moving targets.

Design of Embryo-electronic Systems Capable of Self-diagnosing and Self-healing and Configuration Control

Xu Guili; Xia Zhenghao; Wang Haibin; Zhang Zhai; Wang You-ren

Abstract As aerospace vehicles travel in a hellish environment, the reliability of the measuring and controlling systems has played a critical role in the credibility of a whole airborne system. Embryo-electronic system is a bionic hardware capable of self-diag- nosing and self-healing. This article presents a new approach to design embryo-electronic systems and introduces their bionic principles, system structures and fault-tolerant mechanism. As the current methods cannot meet the requirements for large-scale embryo-electronic systems, this article advances a new shift-register-based configuration memory of embryonic system to solve the problem by using the inter-cell communication to reduce the gene storage capacity of a single cell. The article designs an overall structure of the shift-register-based configuration memories of the embryonic system and connects them into a chain structure. The article also designs an inner circuit of the cell, the control of shift-register-based configuration memory and the way of runtime dynamic configuration. The simulation of field programmable gate array (FPGA) evidences the realizability of the proposed design. Compared to the SRAM-based one, this memory can save 90% of the area when constructing embryonic systems larger than 128 × 128 under the same condition.

Research and design on a robust sun-tracker

Han Dong; Wang ZhiChao; Shen Huan; Xu Guili; Li FangPei

The utilization of solar energy efficiency depends heavily on the level of perpendicularity between sun light and solar panels, so a sun tracker is necessary for improve solar energy utilize. Base on the previous research, the existing problems which happened in the present solar tracker is discussed. Aim to omnidirectional tracking the sun position, a location detector consists of an omnidirectional photoelectric sensor and a PSD is designed. A Single-chip as the main procession power for acquires the four direction signals from PSD and control the step motor by the value of the voltage. According to the luminous intensity 2 tracking mode is designed. If luminous is available, light-electric track is started, otherwise, date-time calculate method use instead so as to realize automatic tracking uninfluenced by weather. According to the results of the experiments and systematic error analysis, the tracking accuracy of the proposed approach is less than 0.1° with the field of view angle of 18° and the stability of the tracker can work stability under all kinds of weather.

Autonomous navigation is of great significance for information access and landing of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). It is the inevitable trend of UAV development. As an excellent image navigation technology, stereo vision can provide critical information for UAV autonomous navigation. The existing stereo matching algorithms reach a low matching accuracy in amplitude distortion images. For the mismatch problem caused by Census transform, a joint matching algorithm consisting of Census transforms and image color information is proposed in this paper. At the same time, the orthogonal integration method is used to raise the speed according to our theory analysis. First, the initial matching cost is constructed by combining the Census transform and color information. Second, the matching cost is aggregated in an improved adaptive window and we use the orthogonal integration method to raise the speed. Finally, after the optimization and re nement, the disparity map can be acquired. The experimental results demonstrate that our method is of higher accuracy by 40% 50% compared with the Census transform method or the image gray information method. The calculation speed has risen by 3 to 12 times. It is robust to the amplitude distortion image and the method can be used in the UAV autonomous navigation very well.
