Synthesis and characterization of poly( N -arylenebenzimidazole ketone ketone)s

Yewei Xu; Jie Tang; Guanjun Chang; Fanghua Zhu; Xuan Luo; Lin Zhang

AbstractPoly(N-arylenebenzimidazole ketone ketone)s (PNABIKKs) consisting of m- and p-phenylene linkages have been synthesized by nucleophilic aromatic substitution from bis(benzimidazolyl) derivatives containing sulfonyl, carbonyl, and ether groups with activated aromatic difluorides in sulfolane at 210 °C in the presence of anhydrous potassium carbonate. The structures of the polymers were characterized by means of Fourier tramsfom infrared (FTIR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) spectroscopy, and elemental analysis, and the results were largely consistent with the proposed structure. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TG) measurements demonstrated that polymers had high glass transition temperatures (Tg>220 °C) and good thermal stability with high decomposition temperatures (TD>480 °C). These novel polymers also showed good solubility.

Poly(Imino Ketone)s Containing Sulfone Group

Guan Jun Chang; Xuan Luo; Lin Zhang; Run Xiong Lin

Aromatic diamine and dibromide with sulfone group as the monomers, three kinds of sulfoned-poly(imino ketone)s (PIKSs) were synthesized via C-N cross-coupling reaction. Their structures were characterized by means of FT-IR and 1H NMR, and the results showed an agreement with the proposed structures. The condensed structures of PIKSs were tested by WXRD, and the WXRD measurement results showed that these polymers had amorphous constitution. Also their thermal properties were tested by DSC and TG, the results indicated they featured high Tg (Tg >200°C) and good thermal stability (T5%﹥440°C). In addition, the adoption of sulfone group increased PIK’s solubility in organic solvents, and PIKSs were soluble in most commonly used organic solvents.

Abstract A series of novel poly(arylene imino) containing fluorenone group (PIKF) have been synthesized via palladium-catalyzed polycondensation. The thermal properties of PIKF are detected by thermal behavior (TG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). UV-vis absorption spectra, photoluminescence are investigated. PIKF exhibit good thermal stability and high Tgs(>200 °C ). The optical properties of PIKF show that PIKF are interesting materials for further investigations to be presented as possible candidates for use as an electron transport layer (n-type) in multilayer LEDs.

Measurement on Light Yield of Liquid Scintillator Based on P-Xylene

Li Ping He; Xuan Luo; Fang Yu; Zhi Jun Wei; Dong Xiao Liu; Zhang Lin; Li Xin

The relative light output of liquid scintillator based on p-xylene (PX) was measured in this paper. The setup for testing on light output was clearly displayed. The results showed that the light yield increased as the addition of the second solute p-bis (o-methylatyryl)- benzene (bis-MSB). Bis-MSB moves the maxmun of fluorescence emission spectra of liquid scintillator from 365nm to 425nm, which is the most sensitive region for the PMT, so the possibility of self-absorption and the loss of light output could be reduced to some extent.

Based on different aromatic dibromides and diamines, using Material Studio software and molecular simulation method, Poly(imino ketone) (PIK), Poly(imino ketone ketone) (PIKK), Poly(imino imino ketone) (PIIK), Poly(imino imino ketone ketone) (PIIKK), Flourene-PIIK and Naphthyl-PIIK, respectively, were designed as six different structures of polymers. And through the method of molecular mechanics and molecular dynamics the single-molecule polymer chain model and the aggregation-state model with three-dimensional periodic boundary conditions would be built. Theoretically, the established model has been verified availably after optimization based on molecular mechanics and molecular dynamics.
