Review of Electric Load Modeling Research

The effect of load model on the analyses of load flow, transient stability, small disturbance stability and voltage stability is analyzed. The importance of the load modeling research is emphasized. The development of component-based method and measurement-based method is reviewed. The advances on the load model research including the select ion of load model structure, model parameters identification, load model with the voltage stability analysis and the sensitivity of load model to the transient stability is summarized.

Active power filter (APF) is an important device to compensate harmonic and reactive current in power system control method adopted has a great influence on its performance. The paper introduces several control methods used by APF, including the deadbeat control, single-cycle control, space vector control and so on. After comparing and analyzing their individual advantages and disadvantages, some improvements for APF performance are proposed.

An Overview of Micro-Grid

Micro-Grid is a small system consisting of micro-power source and the load, which provide electricity and heat for the user. Micro-grid concept proposed mainly to solve large-scale, distributed power and network diversity technically and issues on the market and policy in order to play the advantages of distributed generation technologies in the economic, energy and the environment. It can maximize acceptance of distributed power, and better meet the electricity users’ requirements of power reliability and power quality. Therefore, the research and development of micro-network is an inevitable choice for a large number of distributed generation connected to the grid. This paper briefly discusses evolution of Micro-Grid development, including the difference from conventional power system, the characteristics of Micro-Grid, the present research status, and the key technologies of Smart Grid.

Finally, it is concluded that Distribution Automation is the inevitable trend of Distribution System,and will be gradually developing in the direction of smart distribution grid.

This article also presents shortcomings and challenges of chaos studies in power system.
