Abstract 6/8-Allyl-7-hydroxychromones (1a-d) on oxidative cyclization with DDQ in benzene afforded pyronochromones (2a-d) while the oxidative cyclization of 1b-e with m-CPBA in CH2Cl2 gave hydroxymethyl dihydrofurano chromones (3b-e).
