Abstract In the first Born approximation, a theoretical prediction on positronium formation in laser assisted positron-atom collisions is made. It is found that the collisions are accompanied by multiphoton processes. The cross sections are notably modified by the laser.

SummaryThe chiral extension of the minimal standard model makes quarks with two chiralities present parallely. Some interesting questions, such as the possibility that leptons are made of additional leptonic quarks and the proton decay are discussed.

SummaryIn this paper we investigate the supersymmetrization of the chiral extension of the standard model. It is proven that such a theory maintains many important characteristics of the original one, but the generation number required for the breaking of asymptotic freedom is decreased from >33/8 to >9/4, which is compatible with the present experiments.

SummaryThe Wess-Zumino-Witten (WZW) action derived from the new regularization scheme is the minimal WZW action,i.e. the chiral action. Even though the WZW action is added to the original anomalous theory, the Schwinger terms between Gauss-law constraintsGa(x) andGb(y) cannot be cancelled by the WZW action. The constraintsGa(x) seem to be chiral constraints. If we define modified Gauss-law constraintsGMa (x), the Schwinger terms between the modified Gauss-law constraints GMa(x) and GMb(y) disappear, the constraints GMa(x) become the first-class ones.

We apply the Batalin-Fradkin algorithm combined with the Batalin-Fradkin-Vilkovisky formalism to the generalized Schwinger model. We obtain the Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin invariant action showing that the auxiliary fields introduced in the algorithm turn into the Wess-Zumino scalar.
