Oobius agrili sp.n. andAvetianella xystrocerae sp.n. (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae) are described from China. Morphological characters of the new species are illustrated.O. agrili is an egg parasitoid of the emerald ash borerAgrilus planipennis Fairmaire (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) andA. xystrocerae is an egg parasitoid of the wood borerXystrocera globosa (Olivier) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae). The two new species are potential biocontrol agents of economically important pest insects. The type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing (IZCAS).

Aphis glycines Matsumura is an important pest of soybean in Asia and North America. Hymenoptera parasitoids play a key role in the control of the soybean aphid. The correct identification of parasitoids is a critical step that precedes the assessment of their potential biological control agents. Accurate identification of the majority of the species attacking the soybean aphid often requires elaborate specimen preparation and expert taxonomic knowledge. In this study, we facilitated the identification of soybean aphid parasitoids by applying a DNA barcoding approach following a preliminary morphological identification. We generated DNA sequence data from the mitochondrial COI gene and the D2 region of 28S rDNA to assess the genetic variation within and between parasitoid species emerging from the soybean aphid in China. Fifteen Hymenoptera parasitoid species belonging to 10 genera of five families were identified with little intra‐specific variation (0.09% ± 0.06% for 28S and 0.36% ± 0.18% for COI) and large inter‐specific divergence (30.46% ± 3.42% for 28S and 20.4% ± 1.20% for COI).

Hymenoptera parasitoids of Megaloptera, particularly the family Corydalidae, are rarely found. Ooencyrtus Ashmead is a genus that attacks eggs of many orders of Insecta, including Megaloptera. Here, three species, O. longicauda sp. n., O. noyesi sp. n. and O. protohermeasis sp. n. are described. Two of them, O. longicauda and O. protohermesis were reared from eggs of corydalids (Megaloptera: Corydalidae). The three new species and O. yoshidai Noyes & Hirose are included in the newly established protohermesis species-group of Ooencyrtus because of shared similar morphological characters and what is apparently a shared host family (unknown for O. noyesi).

Abstract Caenohomalopoda chinensis, sp. nov., is described from south-western China. Caenohomalopoda guamensis (Fullaway) is recorded from China for the first time. A key to species of Caenohomalopoda is provided. Scanning electron micrographs and photographs are given to show diagnostic characters of the genus. The type specimens are deposited in the collection of the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing.

Abstract Grandiclavula gen. nov., G. spatulata, sp. nov. and Oriencyrtus liaoi, sp. nov. are described with scanning electron micrographs. Grandiclavula gen. nov. is separated from the related genera by its strongly compressed flagellum, weakly concave facial transverse margin and fine striated-reticulate sculpture on dorsum. All type specimens (except one paratype in NHM) are deposited in Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing.

Eight species of the encyrtid genus Ericydnus Haliday from China had been studied, of which the Ericydnus huangi sp. nov., Ericydnus liaoi sp. nov., Ericydnus infuscatus sp. nov. and Ericydnus gigas sp. nov. are described as new. Of these Ericydnus apterogenes Mayr, Ericydnus japonicus (Tachikawa) and Ericydnus ventralis (Dalman) are documented as new records from China, and a key to these is given. The voucher specimens including types are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing.

Abstract Four species of Tassonia Girault are reported from China. Tassonia gloriae was the only species known so far from China. T. amaura and T. calunica are recorded for the first time. Tassonia setosa, sp. nov. is described. A key to the species is given. The specimens studied are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing (IZCAS), unless mentioned otherwise.
