This paper is concerned with an efficient algorithm for the wrinkling with finite strains of very thin structures made of hyperelastic material. In this work, the problem of wrinkling is solved by directly minimizing the total potential energy of the structure. The numerical solution is carried out by the means of an iterative method such as the conjugate gradient algorithm. Although the proposed approach is theoretically equivalent to the traditional finite element method, it proves to be an attractive alternative which is particularly efficient for thin wrinkled structures.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the ability to measure simultaneously the axial and radial strain with a single optical fiber sensor. The discussion begins with the analytical study of a cylinder subjected to pure tensile strain and thermal load. We emphasize the necessity of measuring the radial strain in order to determine the axial strain of an embedded sensor with accuracy. Then, we describe a few sensors able to measure axial and radial strains and study their efficiency. The conclusion is that the best structure is made of the juxtaposition of a short and a long period grating.

In this work, we seek to assess and optimise the performance of an integrated chloride detection sensor based on the DC electrical resistivity measurement. We specifically seek to evaluate the detection threshold of chlorides. The main problem of the resistivity measurements in concrete is the dispersion of results mainly linked to the material heterogeneity and electrical contact limitations. To take into account the uncertainty of the measurement, we used a measurement device and sensors based on Geoelectrical Imaging methods. It gives richer information than the one delivered by conventional resistivity measurement sensors. Thus, it allows the use of statistical analysis and quality assessment methods. Before performing tests in concrete, we worked in a medium of known and homogenous resistivity in order to assess and optimise the performances of the acquisition system. Then we performed tests on concrete specimens containing different contents of chloride ions. Performance assessment of the resistivity probe is based on an analysis of receiver operating characteristic curves and the detection threshold of chlorides is calculated using the αδ method.
