We propose two experimental schemes to implement arbitrary unitary single qubit operations on single photons encoded in time-bin qubits. Both schemes require fiber optics components that are available with current technology

Damage to optics caused by lasers may be mitigated by material-processing with ultrafast lasers. Ultrahigh (<100 MHz) repetition-rate pulsetrains afford special control of residual heat. We describe studies in fused silica and crystals.

I will present an overview of several recent and ongoing experiments investigating the limitations on quantum measurement. Was Heisenbergs original limit wrong? When and how is entanglement useful for metrology?

We investigate novel quantum photonic devices and applications in quantum communications and enhanced measurements.

We present the first direct experimental violation of Heisenberg’s precision limit. We demonstrate this violation in the polarization of a single photon using weak measurements, implemented by a one-way quantum computing technique.

We demonstrate creation of a 4-qubit “loop cluster,” a resource for one-way quantum computation, with one input and two outputs, from a pair of hyperentangled photons. This cluster possesses no flow, but only generalized flow.
Tenth International Topical Meeting on Education and Training in Optics and Photonics | 2007
François Busque; Yasaman Soudagar
In accordance with its mission, the Student Chapter of the Optical Society of America (OSA) in École Polytechnique de Montréal organises numerous outreach activities to trigger the interest of students 6-17 years of age in optics. In the last two years, these workshops have attracted over 450 students.
