Low-noise, Low-distortion Front-end IC For 1.1 -V Paging Receiver

A front-end IC for a 1.1-V, VHF paging receiver has been developed. Using a novel low-noise, low-distortion amplifier, it achieves a high sensitivity of -130 dBm and a low intermodulation sensitivity of -20 dBm while consuming only 1.98 mW. A 2.93-dB noise figure and a +5.0-dBm third-order intercept point are achieved under 50- Omega matching. >

Receiver for DBS With Digital Audio Signals

The Direct Broadcasting Satellite (DBS) service has just started in Japan. The digital audio signals, which provide higher fidelity sound than FM broadcasting, are directly transmitted to homes by the satellite BS-2 with low noise, ghost free video signals.

This paper reports improvements on the CD-4, discrete four-channel stereo system including newly developed integrated circuits. Up to now, the CD-4 systems have been considered to possess several disadvantages in performance compared with conventional two-channel stereo systems. These disadvantages were, for example, unsatisfactory signal-to-noise ratio (S/N), frequency response, distortions and unusual shock noises in the absence of a subcarrier as well as cross-modulation between the main and subchannels.
