Correlation of Molecular Constants. II. Relation between Force Constant and Equilibrium Internuclear Distance

A new relation between force constant and equilibrium internuclear distance has been suggested: ke(re−d)2=A, where d and A are constants for each molecular group. The relation has been examined for a number of molecular groups and found to be satisfactory.

Making certain assumptions regarding constants in Sutherlands potential energy function, a number of relations have been derived between the molecular constants; viz., ke, re, De, ωe, etc. The relations will be examined in succeeding papers.
