Just-In Time Production System Using Fuzzy Logic Approach and a Simulation Application

While firms are operating in a global competitive environment, they are subjected to changes because of the increased competitiveness and developed technologies. Therefore, this transformation process forces to produce with just-in-time production and low cost products or services and leads to customer satisfaction. Until today, competitive conditions, efficiency, productivity and quality of production, forced the firms to put more emphasis on production systems. Therefore, the firms are more interested in scientific analysis, planning and controlling of their production systems. As a result, one of the newest approaches is Just in Time (JIT) production system which emerged after WWII in Japan and aims to decrease the inventory cost and maximize the quality. The philosophy of this approach is to produce the necessary amount of production, when and where needed at the required quality. But JIT production system is weak in unclear species. For this purpose, the general and necessary solution is using fuzzy logic. In this paper we discussed about the simulation of an assembly line with 3 steps; firstly using Kanban production method, secondly non-using Kanban production method, and lastly using Kanban production method with fuzzy times. And also the comparisons of these steps will also be studied in this paper.

Prioritizing store plan alternatives produced with shape grammar using multi-criteria decision-making techniques:

To generate alternatives and variations of specific architectural models, shape grammars can be used by applying a set of geometric rules step by step. With the development in human life, advances in store design, design concept, commercial buildings’ architectural and spatial fiction, the magazine of the interior, and facade design cause rising competition between stores and also between designers. For this reason, in this paper we study the evaluation of store plan alternatives produced with shape grammar using two of multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques with fuzzy numbers, namely fuzzy analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy analytic network process. The main contribution of this paper is to prioritize plan alternatives using numerical methods with experts’ view. To the authors’ knowledge, this will be the first interdisciplinary study which uses MCDM techniques for evaluating shape grammar outputs in architectural design.

Extended prioritizing of store plan alternatives produced with shape grammar using the generalized Choquet integral method

In the previous paper, the store plan alternatives produced with shape grammar were evaluated using two of multi-criteria decision making techniques with triangular fuzzy numbers, namely fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process and fuzzy ANP. In addition to fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process and fuzzy ANP results, another multi-criteria decision making technique, the generalized Choquet integral method with trapezoidal fuzzy numbers, is used for evaluation and the result of this method is compared with fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process and fuzzy ANP results. The main contribution of this paper is to determine the interdependency among main criteria and subcriteria, the nonlinear relationship among them and the environmental uncertainties while prioritizing plan alternatives using the generalized Choquet integral method with the experts’ same data that evaluated in the previous study. To the authors’ knowledge, this will be the first interdisciplinary study which uses the generalized Choquet integral method in the field of architectural design.
