Thermo-stress coupling field of friction lining during high-speed slide of wire rope in a mine friction-drive hoist

In order to seek the intrinsic reason for the serious high-speed slide accident in a mine hoist, the thermo-stress coupling field of friction lining was studied during the high-speed slide. First, the helical contact characteristics were analysed. Subsequently, the thermomechanical properties and the dynamic coefficient of linear expansion were studied, and the thermomechanical constitutive relation was obtained. Then, the theoretical model of thermo-stress was established with the consideration of the helical contact characteristics and the thermomechanical constitutive relation. Also, the numerical simulation was performed by the finite element analysis. Finally, the experiment was carried out on a friction tester. It is found that the temperature is the highest at the contact zone II and the friction heat focuses on the contact surface layer. The variation frequency of the stress is 6.98 Hz at 0.5 m/s. Besides, the catastrophe for the strain and coefficient of friction occurs at 3 m/s. The thermo-stress concentration occurs at contact zone II. The experiment results agree with the simulation ones, which validates the theoretical model of thermo-stress.

Friction heat conduction and entransy of friction lining

Purpose – This paper aims to analyze the friction heat conduction and entransy of two friction linings in the high‐speed slide accident of a mine friction hoist.Design/methodology/approach – Firstly, the dynamic thermophysical properties were analyzed and their fitting equations were also obtained. Additionally, the dynamic heat partition ratio was obtained according to the dynamic thermophysical properties. Then, a simple method was developed to solve the temperature rise of friction lining. Finally, based on the theoretical model of temperature rise, the entransy of friction lining with respect to T and t were gained.Findings – The error of temperature rise between simulation result and experiment result is less than 7 per cent, which proves that the theoretical model is correct. The entransy decreases with the temperature below 40°C and it increases after 40°C. The entransy of lining K is a little higher than that of lining G within 19 s, but the entransy of lining G is much higher than lining K after ...

Bond Graph Modeling and Validation of an Energy Regenerative System for Emulsion Pump Tests

The test system for emulsion pump is facing serious challenges due to its huge energy consumption and waste nowadays. To settle this energy issue, a novel energy regenerative system (ERS) for emulsion pump tests is briefly introduced at first. Modeling such an ERS of multienergy domains needs a unified and systematic approach. Bond graph modeling is well suited for this task. The bond graph model of this ERS is developed by first considering the separate components before assembling them together and so is the state-space equation. Both numerical simulation and experiments are carried out to validate the bond graph model of this ERS. Moreover the simulation and experiments results show that this ERS not only satisfies the test requirements, but also could save at least 25% of energy consumption as compared to the original test system, demonstrating that it is a promising method of energy regeneration for emulsion pump tests.
