Abstract Using the pendent organic ligand 1-butyl-1H-(1,3,4)triazole (btz), two new polyoxometalate (POM)-based compounds, [Cu3(btz)6(H2O)4(H3P2W18O62)2]·6H2O (1) and [Cu2(btz)(tz)(H2O)2(SiMo12O40)]·5H2O (2) (tz=1H-(1,3,4)triazole), have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. In compound 1, three CuII ions are fused by six btz ligands to form a linear tri-nuclear CuII cluster, with water as bridging molecules. Two Wells-Dawson anions offer two terminal O atoms to link two apical CuII atoms of this tri-nuclear cluster. In compound 2, the btz and tz molecules connect CuII ions to construct an infinite CuII chain still with water molecules as bridges. The adjacent chains are linked by one type of POM anions to build a 2D grid-like layer. Considering the long-range coordinative Cu–O bonds, the other types of POM anions connect adjacent layers to form a 3D framework. The electrochemical and photocatalytic properties of compounds 1 and 2 were also studied.

Using a conjugate ring-riched quinoxaline derivative 2,3-diphenyl-quinoxalinen( L ), three new Lindqvist polymolybdate based compounds,n[Cu I 2 L 3 (Mo 6 O 19 )] ( 1 ), [Cu I 2 L 2 (C 16 H 36 N) 2 (Mo 6 O 19 ) 2 ] ( 2 ) and [Cu I 4 L 4 Cl 2 (Mo 6 O 19 )] ( 3 ) (C 16 H 36 N=tetrabutyl ammonium), were synthesized under hydrothermal conditionsnand characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. In compound 1 , the Cu + ions as connecting bodies are linkednby L molecules to form a [Cu L ] n n + metal-organicnline, and these lines link the Mo 6 anions to constructn1D chains. Then these 1D chains connect each other by sharing thensame Mo 6 anions and a 2D grid-like layer is built. In compound 2 , there is also a [Cu L ] n n + line. The Mo 6 anionsnoffering one terminal O atom covalently hang this metal-organic linento construct a wave-like 1D chain of compound 2 . Therenexist two types of L ligands (type-a and type-b) in compound 3 . The type-a L molecules and Cl-bridging arenlinked by Cu + ions to form a metal-organic line, with thentype-b L and Mo 6 anions covalently hangingnit up and down. Additionally, the electrochemical and photocatalyticnproperties of the three compounds were also studied.
