In this paper we analyze the performance and design tradeoffs in a multiple-channel-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MC-OFDM) based system under the effect of adjacent channel interference (ACI). We study the problem of deploying multiple channels with OFDM signals adjacent to each other through simulation. A generic power amplifier model – RAPP’s model, is used in the simulation study. The simulated waveform is similar to one of the configurations supported by the IEEE 802.16e standard draft. The simulation results show the variation in performance degradation as the channel spacing is varied, at a particular power amplifier operation point. The simulations were performed for both coded and uncoded transmit signals. The error floors in the uncoded case, when the channel spacing is relatively small, are found to be significantly reduced in the coded case.
