To strengthen the appeal of Hyundai/Kia’s premium SUVs, a new V6 3 l diesel engine has been developed. Its combustion system provides both high performance for driving comfort and potential for Euro 4 emission standard. This engine provides a foundation for coping with the next generation Euro 5 emission standards by adopting advanced combustion and after-treatment systems while development work has already started on the application of urea injection NOx after-treatment system in order to meet the US Tier 2 Bin 5 emission standard.

The New 1.6 | Diesel Engine

A new 1.6 | diesel engine has been launched to enhance the competitive power of Hyundai/Kia Motors’ C-segment vehicles. This engine provides 84.6 kW of maximum power, 255 Nm of torque over a wide engine speed range and has a homologated fuel consumption of 4.7 l/100 km. In parallel to these achievements, noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) characteristics were optimised by both collaborated structural analysis of the powertrain and refined calibration of the injection parameters.

Um den Anspruch der Premium-SUVs von Hyundai/Kia zu unterstreichen, wurde ein neuer 3,0-l-V6-Dieselmotor ent wickelt. Sein Leistungsvermogen bietet Fahrkomfort im Rahmen der Euro-4-Abgasgesetzgebung. Durch Optimierungen des Verbrennungskonzepts und der Abgasnachbehandlung ist das Grundkonzept des Motors Basis der zukunftigen Euro-5-Emissionsstandards. Um auch die Anforde run gen der US-Tier-2-Bin-5-Gesetzgebung zu erfullen, ist ein NOx-Abgasnachbehandlungssystem mittels Harnstoffeinspritzung in Entwicklung.
