Spontaneously resolved 3D homochiral In(III) coordination polymer with extended In-OH-In helical chains†

The hydrothermal reaction of In(III) and pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid in the presence of triethylamine leads to a generation of novel 3D homochiral coordination polymers with In-OH-In helical chains. Interestingly, the resulting crystals were not a racemic mixture but had an enantiomeric excess, which was confirmed by the measurement of optical rotation of bulk samples using solid state vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) spectra.

Synthesis, structure and photoluminescent properties of a new coordination polymer [Cd2(pzdc)2(4,4′-bpy)(H2O)2] n (H2pzdc = pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid, 4,4′-bpy = 4,4′-bipyridine)

A new 2D coordination polymer, [Cd2(pzdc)2(4,4′-bpy)(H2O)2] n (1) (pzdc = pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid, 4,4′-bpy = 4,4′-bipyridine), has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra and single crystal X-ray diffraction. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that 1 features an interesting 2D stair-like layer with linear [Cd2(pzdc)2(H2O)2] n ribbons linked by 4,4′-bpy bridges. Furthermore, these layers are packed in an ABAB arrangement to give a 3D supramolecular network via hydrogen bonding and π–π packing interactions. Compound 1 displays strong fluorescent emission in the solid state at room temperature.

A 3-D pillar-layered coordination polymer {[EuCu(C2O4)(na)2] · 2H2O} n : synthesis, structure and photoluminescent properties

A 3d–4f heterometallic coordination polymer, {[EuCu(C2O4)(na)2]  · 2H2O} n (1) [Hna=nicotinic acid], has been synthesized by hydrothermal reaction of lanthanide oxides, Cu(I), and pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid. 1 features a 3-D pillar-layered coordination framework constructed from two-dimensional lanthanide-carboxylate layers and Cu(na) pillars. Interestingly, the na ligand was obtained by the in situ decarboxylation of pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid.
