Three dimensional analysis of the face in respect of zygomatic fractures and evaluation of the surgery with the aid of Moiré topography

In this study, the author analyzed the facial deformity of patients with zygomatic fractures, using Moiré topography, which is a method of three dimensional morphometry. Facial Moiré photographs of patients were taken at 45 degree angles before and after operation and were quantitatively analyzed for degree of deformity by computer data processing. Each data was compared in the interval between injury and operation and in respect of the surgical procedures. Radiographic findings and normal individuals were also studied for comparison.

Pneumoparotis, an unusual occurrence of parotid gland swelling during dental treatment. Report of a case with a review of the literature

A 24-year-old male with pneumoparotis caused by the use of an air syringe during a routine restorative dental procedure during clinical training is presented. Reflux of air into the parotid gland due to increasing pressure is a rare cause of acute parotid swelling.--A discussion of this unusual case and review of the literature including its differential diagnosis and management form the basis of this report. Judicious use of intra-oral dental instruments using compressed air or gas is advised.

Quantification of the Symmetry of the Nose Using an Analysis of Moiré Photographs of the Face

Correction of the symmetry of the nose is an important objective of the cleft lip operation. In the present study, we attempted to numerate the state of symmetry of the nose by using moire topography which provides a simple, one-step method for mapping the contour of the subject on a single photograph.
