Effect of fluoroalkoxyl substituents on photoconductive properties of enamines

Abstract New enamines which have fluoroalkoxyl substituents were synthesized and the drift mobilities of these enamines were measured by the time-of-flight method. The yields of enamines synthesized by the following procedure were good (40–52% yield after 4 steps); fluoroalkylation of 4,4′-dihydroxybenzohpenone with 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl trifluoromethanesulfonate followed by Wittig reaction, hydrolysis and condensation with diarylamines. The enamines have increased solubilities in polymer matrix and larger oxidation-reduction potentials compared with corresponding alkoxylated enamines. It is shown that the hole drift mobilities of these enamines are influenced by structures and properties of substituents.
