Computer assisted instruction learning system using CAI

Yoshikazu Araki; H. Imamura; T. Obo; Y. Kobori

A new teaching system is being developed to link lecture and laboratory learning. The system consists of pre-Lab-CAI (computer-assisted instruction), the laboratory and post-Lab-CAI. The pre- and post-Lab-CAI consists of quiz-type CAI and tutorial-type CAI.<<ETX>>

Problems of engineering education in Japanese university and a new trial solution

Yoshikazu Araki; A. Nakajima; H. Imamura; T. Ono; Y. Kobori

The number of students at Japanese universities and colleges in increasing their educational needs or purposes are greatly diversified, and they show various levels of academic achievements. Such a situation gives rise to a variety of educational problems, which cannot easily be solved because of the Japanese educational environments. The authors have extensively developed new practical teaching systems consisting of CMI (computer-managed instruction) together with CAI (computer-aided instruction) systems. As a trial solution to the difficult problems mentioned above, the authors suggest that more teachers make use of the CMI/CAI systems.<<ETX>>

A CAI system for electronic circuit design

T. Ono; Y. Kobori; H. Imamura; K. Souda; Yoshikazu Araki; A. Nakajima

The authors describe a computer-aided instruction (CAI) system which supports electronic circuit designs using measured active device data from a curve tracer. This CAI is divided into two stages. First, quiescent characteristics of a BJT are measured by the curve tracer and stored in files. Then a student designs basic circuits using these data. The computer evaluates his designs and points out wrong designs. Using this CAI system, students understand the relation between the quiescent characteristics curve and the basic amplifier design.<<ETX>>

CAI software on electrical and electronic circuits

T. Ono; Y. Kobori; Yoshikazu Araki; H. Imamura

CAI (computer-assisted instruction) software on electrical and electronics circuits at the Saitama Institute of Technology is described. Particular attention is given to CAI on signal flow graphs and on electronic circuit design. A CAI system for PSpice is also discussed.<<ETX>>
