This work proposes PRORIX/spl trade/, a new architecture for a centrally managed home network system. This architecture can support a range of scalable configurations, from small-scale systems without home servers, to large-scale systems centralized on a home server. Since the PRORIX/spl trade/ makes it possible to adapt a system scale to user needs, it becomes easier for users to introduce a home network system to their home. The work presents, as an example, a network camera system using this architecture.

The paper proposes a new architecture for home network systems. This architecture makes it possible to provide seamless integration management and cooperative control for all types of network devices (e.g. AV, CE, residential facilities). Therefore, home network systems based on this new architecture will allow users to improve their living environment.

We present a new system model based on DLNA 2- box models. The proposed system supports pull-type and push- type streaming of AV content on the same device platform, which is not directly supported by DLNA currently. This system also provides a streaming-conflict avoiding mechanism and a dynamic pull-push switching mechanism.

We propose a new architecture that supports the plug and play of service modules for a centrally managed home network system. Service modules are designed independent of the server package and are managed flexibly. Modules belonging to the same service class can be configured to work exclusively or cooperatively. This architecture provides the possibility to set up a system adapted to user needs, which contributes to the spread of home networks and further progress in consumer electronics
