When recovering values from municipal refuse, both economy and secondary pollution control must be taken into consideration. Use of the organic fraction as a source of pyrolytic gas or waste heat from incineration could be considered important sources of energy. This would be effectively accomplished after proper classification and extraction of valuable materials such as paper, plastics and metals. To these aims, described here is the concept of a “semi-wet selective pulverizing system” for materials recovery.
