Electron microscopic study of interstitial pneumonia, with special reference to alveolar epithelial cells.

Yoshio Okada

The term “interstitial pneumonia” connotes a tissue response in the lung which takes place predominantly in the alveolar interstitum, rather than within alveolar lumen. Interstitial pneumonia is a sequel to many and varied causes of lung damage.l.6J’ The aim of the present study was to investigate epithelial tissue which has received less attention than the interstitial tissue in interstitial pneumonia and pulmonary fibrosis.
