Image edge detection using adaptive morphology Meyer wavelet-CNN

Young-Hyun Baek; Oh-Sung Byun; Sung-Rung Moon

The boundary of an object image in a digital image is distorted by noise or other elements of the system that mix with the image during transmission. In this paper, it is proposed that the object boundary be detected and exactly divided for optimal edge detection method. After bringing up the object boundary by applying adaptive morphology on the threshold of the input image, the optimal edge is detected using wavelet-cellular neural network (CNN). The proposed method is compared with the conventional Sobel method used as an edge detection algorithm. The proposed algorithm is confirmed to be superior than the conventional methods.

Color Edge Detection using Variable Template Operator

Young-Hyun Baek; Sung-Ryong Moon

This paper discusses an approach for detecting a new edge in color images. The color image is to be represented by a vector field, and the color image edges are detected as differences in the local vector statistics. This method is based on the calculation for the vector angle between two adjacent pixels. Unlike Euclidean distance in RGB space, the vector angle distinguishes the differences in chromaticity, independent of luminance or intensity. The proposed approach can easily accommodate concepts, such as variable template edge detection, as well as the latest developments in vector order statistics for color image processing. In this paper, it is used not a conventional fixed template operator but a variable template operator. The variable template is implemented and experimental results for digital color images are included.

Multi Characters Detection Using Color Segmentation and LoG operator characteristics in Natural Scene

Seong Shin; Young-Hyun Baek; Sung-Ryong Moon

This paper proposed the multi characters detection algorithm using Color segmentation and the closing curve feature of LoG Operator in order to complement the demerit of the existing research which is weak in complexity of background, variety of light and disordered line and similarity of left and background color, etc. The proposed multi characters detection algorithm divided into three parts : The feature detection, characters format and characters detection Parts in order to be possible to apply to image of various feature. After preprocess that the new multi characters detection algorithm that proposed in this paper used wavelet, morphology, hough transform which is the synthesis logical model in order to raise detection rate by acquiring the non-perfection characters as well as the perfection characters with processing OR operation after processing each color area by AND operation sequentially. And the proposal algorithm is simulated with natural images which include natural character area regardless of size, resolution and slant and so on of image. And the proposal algorithm in this paper is confirmed to an excellent detection rate by compared with the conventional detection algorithm in same image.

The Implementation of Face Authentication System Using Real-Time Image Processing

Young-Hyun Baek; Seong Shin; Sung-Ryong Moon

In this paper, it is proposed the implementation of face authentication system based on real-time image processing. We described the process implementing the two steps for real-time face authentication system. At first face detection steps, we describe the face detection by using feature of wavelet transform, LoG operator and hausdorff distance matching. In the second step we describe the new dual-line principal component analysis(PCA) for real-time face recognition. It is combines horizontal line to vertical line so as to accept local changes of PCA. The proposed system is affected a little by the video size and resolution. And then simulation results confirm the effectiveness of out system and demonstrate its superiority to other conventional algorithm. Finally, the possibility of performance evaluation and real-time processing was confirmed through the implementation of face authentication system.

A Study on High Resolution Reconstruction Algorithms for improving Resolution

Young-Hyun Baek; Sung-Ryong Moon

In this paper, It propose a new restoration algorithm of high resolution, which is reconstructed to high resolution image using low resolution image informations. The proposed algorithm is constructed based on super resolution theory, it is consisted of progressive steps of the integration and construction. It reduced a lot of data-processing capacity and noise with integration through sub-pixel movement and wavelet basis through a higher resolution. As a result, it is shown that the main information is maintained and the error rate is improved. Using expansion fuzzy wavelet B-spline interpolation in stage of construction, it is confirmed that we can achieve smoothing image and good resolution without blur and block.

A Study on Fuzzy Wavelet LDA Mixed Model for an effective Face Expression Recognition

Jong-Heun Rho; Young-Hyun Baek; Sung-Ryong Moon

In this paper, it is proposed an effective face expression recognition LDA mixed mode using a triangularity membership fuzzy function and wavelet basis. The proposal algorithm gets performs the optimal image, fuzzy wavelet algorithm and Expression recognition is consisted of face characteristic detection step and face Expression recognition step. This paper could applied to the PCA and LDA in using some simple strategies and also compares and analyzes the performance of the LDA mixed model which is combined and the facial expression recognition based on PCA and LDA. The LDA mixed model is represented by the PCA and the LDA approaches. And then we calculate the distance of vectors dPCA, dLDA from all fates in the database. Last, the two vectors are combined according to a given combination rule and the final decision is made by NNPC. In a result, we could showed the superior the LDA mixed model can be than the conventional algorithm.
