A short and efficient synthetic approach to hydroxy (E)-stilbenoids via solid-phase cross metathesis

Sukbok Chang; Youngim Na; Hyun Jung Shin; Eunjung Choi; Lak Shin Jeong

Solid-phase cross metathesis of supported styrenyl ether with styrene derivatives afforded stilbenoids in high yields with complete (E)-selectivity, and this approach could be readily applied for a facile synthesis of a biologically important natural product, resveratrol.

Tetrahedron Letters | 2003

Ruthenium-catalyzed hydroesterification of alkynes and dienes based on a chelation-approach

Youngim Na; Sangwon Ko; Lee Kyoung Hwang; Sukbok Chang

Abstract Based on a chelation-assistance strategy, efficient hydroesterification of alkynes and dienes has been achieved using ruthenium catalyst without the need of high pressuric external CO atmosphere, and a diverse range of α,β-unsaturated esters and mono-olefinic esters could be obtained with high stereo- and regioselectivity.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1999

A highly efficient synthesis of (S)-(+)-N-Boc-coniine using ring-closing olefin metathesis (RCM)

Eunyoung Jo; Youngim Na; Sukbok Chang

Optically active (S)-(+)-coniine as an N-Boc protected form was concisely prepared starting from an amino acid, l-norvaline. The key step involved a ring-closing olefin metathesis (RCM) of the dialkenyl compound 6 to give the corresponding cyclic olefin 8 in an essentially quantitative yield.
