Synthesis and Performance Research of Biodegradable Modified Polyaspartic Acid

Modified polyaspartic acid (PASP-SEA-ASP) was prepared from polysuccinimide (PSI) that was thermal condensation polymer of aspartic acid (ASP), taurine (SEA) and ASP. The property of scale inhibition, dispersant and biodegradation of PASP-SEA-ASP were studied. The structure of modified polyaspartic acid was characterized by means of FTIR. Calcium carbonate crystals in scale samples were analysed by means of SEM. The results showed that under Ca2+ 400 mg/L, HCO3- 800 mg/L and PASP-SEA-ASP composite 4 mg/L, the scale inhibition rate of PASP-SEA-ASP was 67%. Under PASP-SEA-ASP composite 15 mg/L, the least diaphaneity of the top liquid on dispersing iron oxide was 53.8 %. And PASP-SEA-ASP possess better biodegradation performance and the highest biodegradation rate can reach 70%. Modified polyaspartic acid could distort calcium carbonate crystallite and made calcium carbonate crystallite more dispersive.

Polyaspartic acid derivative was prepared from polysuccinimide that was thermal condensation polymer of aspartic acid and aspartic acid.The property of scale inhibition and biodegradation of PASP-ASP were studied. Effect of the scale inhibitor on ion content in reverse osmosis system for seawater desalination

A scale inhibitor was synthesized from polysuccinimide with 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid and aspartic acid. The effect of scale inhibitor on ion content in reverse osmosis system for seawater desalination was studied. The results showed that the ion content of permeate water is lower with the scale inhibitor added in RO system for seawater desalination than without scale inhibitor. On the contrary, the ion content of concentrate water is higher when with scale inhibitor in RO system.
