Implementation of Six Sigma Method to Maintain The Quality of Construction Projects. Six sigma (6-sigma) is amethod that widely developed in the world, especially in manufacturing industry to decrease failures in achieving goodquality in construction projects. The objective of this research is to explore the existing condition of qualitymanagement and the aplication of 6-sigma method in maintaining quality of construction projects. Structured interviewsto experienced experts and people who were recommended by their companies were conducted. Non-parametricanalysis using frequencies distribution procedures were used for analysis. The result shows that existing condition inquality management of construction project in Indonesia have been implemented 6-sigma method approach, thatconcern with is how to adapt with either from internal or external condition of that project.

Building has a big impact on the environmental developments. There are three general motives in building, namely the economy, society, and environment. Total completed building construction in Indonesia increased by 116% during 2009 to 2011. It made the energy consumption increased by 11% within the last three years. In fact, 70% of energy consumption is used for electricity needs on commercial buildings which leads to an increase of greenhouse gas emissions by 25%. Green Building cycle costs is known as highly building upfront cost in Indonesia. The purpose of optimization in this research improves building performance with some of green concept alternatives. Research methodology is mixed method of qualitative and quantitative approaches through questionnaire surveys and case study. Total completed building construction value in Indonesia increased 116% during 2009 to 2011. That’s followed by increasing 11% energy consumption in Indonesia in the last three years with 70% energy met to the electricity needs of commercial building. In addition, a few application of green building concept in Indonesia made the greenhouse gas emissions or CO2 amount increased by 25%. Construction, operation, and maintain of building cost consider relatively high. The evaluation in this research is used to improve the building performance with some of green concept alternatives. The research methodology is conducted by combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches through interview and case study. Assessing the successful of optimization functions in the existing green building is based on the operational and maintenance phase with the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Method. The result of optimization that is the largest efficiency and effective of building life cycle.

The development of toll road infrastructure in Indonesia is very decelerate where from 1500 km that was planned in 2006, but the realization is only 749,12 km operation in 2010, meanwhile the land that will be acquisited in Trans Java toll road is 6,272.84 Ha, but only 1,400 Ha have been acquisited. From the facts above that land acquisition is very significant point in toll road development. There are many efforts how to mitigate these risks such as land capping revolving fund, but this effort still meeting constraints. At this paper, we try to examine how the impact of land acquisition delay in toll road infrastructure development in Indonesia with system dynamic method, so we can see what their impact to toll road development.

Construction project inevitably consumes resources and generates large amounts of waste, hence the efforts to achieve sustainable construction are required. The integration of multiple management systems, information flow analysis, and optimization of operational processes will reinforce sustainable knowledge (science of sustainability). The absence of the management of consumption of resources and construction waste can be a serious problem for the environment, on the contrary management can generate profits. One of the keys to success in realizing sustainable construction is through the integrated management systems. Integrated management system potentially reduces the construction waste due to construction failure. Previous studies have discussed the suitable management model for sustainable development. Most of these studies are interpreted in the form of regression equations and multivariate form. However, only few discuss about the implementation of integrated management system in achieving sustainable construction. Therefore, this research used structural equation method to reveal the most suitable integrated management system related to sustainable construction.Construction project inevitably consumes resources and generates large amounts of waste, hence the efforts to achieve sustainable construction are required. This paper aims at evaluating an anthropomorphic prosthetic hand based on usability concept. It can be controlled for pre-defined five motions. The assessment is conducted by design approach. Users are given the task according to the rules of hand benchmarking in Southampton Hand Assessment Procedure (SHAP) by using Anthropomorphic Prosthetic Hand to perform daily activities. The quantitative data is obtained by a test that based on the criteria of learnability, memorability, satisfaction, efficiency and errors. The qualitative data is obtained by giving USE (Usefulness, Satisfaction and Ease of Use) questionnaires. The recommendation design is prepared by using Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method to combine suggestions from respondents and product developers. Assessment by USE questionnaires shows that the usability level of Anthropomorphic Prosthetic Hand on the aspect of usefulness is 68.3% and 63.8%; satisfaction is 59.5% and 55.6%. The improvement recommendations based on the result of (QFD) are Variant material to connect to the arm, System to connect to arm, Dimension of connecting to arm, Connection information to the arm, and Instructions for the exercise stage. So that improvement is done in accordance with ISO 9241-11: 1998.

Near Zero Energy House (NZEH) is a housing building that provides energy efficiency by using renewable energy technologies and passive house design. Currently, the costs for NZEH are quite expensive due to the high costs of the equipment and materials for solar panel, insulation, fenestration and other renewable energy technology. Therefore, a study to obtain the optimum design of a NZEH is necessary. The aim of the optimum design is achieving an economical life cycle cost performance of the NZEH. One of the optimization methods that could be utilized is Genetic Algorithm. It provides the method to obtain the optimum design based on the combinations of NZEH variable designs. This paper discusses the study to identify the optimum design of a NZEH that provides an optimum life cycle cost performance using Genetic Algorithm. In this study, an experiment through extensive design simulations of a one-level house model was conducted. As a result, the study provide the optimum design from combinations of NZEH variable designs, which are building orientation, window to wall ratio, and glazing types that would maximize the energy generated by photovoltaic panel. Hence, the design would support an optimum life cycle cost performance of the house.

Safety Culture in the construction industry is very influential on the socio economic conditions that resulted in the countrys competitiveness. Based on the data, the accident rate of construction projects in Indonesia is very high. In the era of the Asian Economic Community (AEC) Indonesian contractor is required to improve competitiveness, one of which is the implementation of the project without zero accident. Research using primary and secondary data validated the results of the literature experts and questionnaire respondents were analyzed using methods SmartPLS, obtained pattern of relationships between dimensions of safety culture to improve the performance of Safety. The results showed that the behaviors and Cost of Safety into dimensions that significantly affect the performance of safety. an increase in visible policy-based on Regulation of Public Work and Housing No 5/PRT/M/2014 to improve to lower the accident rate.

Green building concept becomes important in current building life cycle to mitigate environment issues. The purpose of this paper is to optimize building construction performance towards green building premium cost, achieving green building rating tools with optimizing life cycle cost. Therefore, this study helps building stakeholder determining building fixture to achieve green building certification target. Empirically the paper collects data of green building in the Indonesian construction industry such as green building fixture, initial cost, operational and maintenance cost, and certification score achievement. After that, using value engineering method optimized green building fixture based on building function and cost aspects. Findings indicate that construction performance optimization affected green building achievement with increasing energy and water efficiency factors and life cycle cost effectively especially chosen green building fixture.

Unideal Safety culture in Indonesia requires an evaluation of policy implementation refers to the construction safety regulation, Ministry Regulation 05/PRT/2014. Out of Norms, Standards, Procedures and Criteria (NSPK), we only have Norms and Procedure. As for Standard and Criteria are still being planned. This research on building, housing, water resource, roads and bridges construction at the Ministry of General Works and Housing resulted in having significant relation between safety policy implementation dimension (Monitoring and sanction / penalty) and safety culture dimensions (behavior, safety cost, policy, leadership, man, and strategy). Recommendations for policy improvement are obtained from review and implementation strategy of the significant relation between safety policy implementation dimension and safety culture dimensions.
