mole) was triturated in a mortar with concentrated hydrochloric acid (25 ml) until the colorless hydrochloride salt formed. Ice (50 g) was then added and a solution of sodium nitrite (3.45 g, 0.05 mole) in water (i0 ml) was slowly stirred in at a temperature not higher than 5~ The solution of the diazonium salt was transferred to a beaker and stirred while concentrated hydrochloric acid (7.5 ml) and enamine (XXIXb) (6.95 g, 0.05 mole) were added. The productwas treated and isolated in the same way as (IV). The yield was 8 g.
