From Amplitude to Architecture of Braided Channel Bars: the Sedimentological Interpretation of Stratal Slices in a Shallow-sea Seismic Survey, DaGang

Summary In a shallow-sea seismic survey with sparse well control, the resolution limit of 3-D seismic data makes it difficult to study the internal architecture of genetic sand bodies in braided channel bars. A detailed interpretation of NgI1 formation in Chenghai oil field, Dagang by (1) process of seismic data with technologies of 90 o phasing and stratal slicing; (2) geological interpretation of amplitude in seismic slices and (3) the sedimentary architecture revealed in horizontal wells. Three overflow stages can be recognized with changes of seismic amplitude in slices of different depth in this area. The same result is calibrated with wireline-log curves. This research provides a more reasonable geological interpretation for the high water-cut of horizontal well productions in zh8 block.
